Solid grey gloom on the North Shore now with a very light drizzle. It was a clear dawn and a fairly sunny morning but it closed in from lunch time and is now quite cool. I think we may have had a weak front pass through, e.g. At Bellambi shortly before noon.

Yes it is starting to look a lot like Christmas out there now.

Haha it really does look like Christmas out there aye!

Yeah Steve I noted that as well by the temp drop and the stronger winds.

Looks like we could be in for some heat by the end of the working week. Although it shouldn't be too bad here with the seabreeze. Maybe even the chance of a storm on Friday afternoon.

We actually had some precip early this evening, unfortunately it was not enough to wet the road, if i had rain gauge the could measure in .000000001, it might have ticked it over!! laugh

Anyway tomorrow we should see some sun!!

Yuck, once again it's a gloomy and cloudy day. This is what I hate about the Illawarra- there can be days on end of this weather and while the cloud will clear in most areas today, my area will probably see the gloom fest all or most of the day

I think we had similar totals here Eddy. poke

Full cloud cover once again early this morning, but it looks like burning off late morning or early afternoon.
NE sea breeze has just started, so it will probably gather in strength as the day wears on.

Well cloud was burning off, now seems to be thickening up from the NW, was just up at the beach and i reckon 10-15km out to sea there is plenty of blue sky.

That is how its been here (Shellharbour) last 2 days in arvo - you see the blue sitting just 10kms offshore. Still cloudy here, but I would not use the term gloomy anymore.

Overcast but now fairly bright here, with a few blue patches and blue sky visible on the Eastern horizon. We had a bit of sun this morning courtesy of a hole in the cloud cover that passed over us (you can see it on the satellite picture at 8:00 and 9:00).

The visible satellite picture now shows the grey gunk (meteorological term) shrivelling hour by hour so hopefully we get a bit of sun this afternoon.

Yes that sat pic is looking better hour by hour. It cleared here
for a while not long after lunch, came out quite steamy, but like the past few days the cloud seems to return mid afternoon.

Yeah it was actually quite bright for most the afternoon with a few holes appearing in the cloud. It has since clouded back over. Yet another day of no sunshine at all though.

Thanks for posting that SB. Btw I haven't heard of Monolith Valley before.

90% blue sky in Nowra, at last. Can see your low cloud Sea-Mist on the vis satellite, an annoying little area just north of Saddleback Mountain once again...

Its been a week since the last storm event, and none look likely in the next week at least. Its been a disappointing season (as usual) , and the storms we do get lack punch.

I hadn't previously heard of it either, seems an obscure choice. It's in the Budawang Range area west of Ulladulla.

The new forecasts throw up a few surprises. They reckon Hornsby is going to be 25C tomorrow, the same as Mona Vale and cooler than the city? They've got rocks in their heads!

Hornsby is about 180 metres above sea level which would knock off a degree or sometimes two but it is as far inland as Olympic Park.

Given that Olympic Park is forecast to be 27, that for Hornsby might be right.

It's the coastal stations I don't believe. What does the BOM think will cause the temperature at OH and coastal sites to rise to 25/26 today? There's already a barrelling Easterly and while the overcast may clear, this month it's been struggling to get past 23 at OH when the sea breeze is active.

Of course it might reach 26 before 9:00 tomorrow, in which case the record would show the forecast as correct. Inwonder if that's what they mean?

Yeah I agree Steve hey reckon it'll hit 23C at Wollongong and 26C here. We will probably hit 20- maybe 21C and 22-23 respectively. And it's still cloudy, how will 23C be reached right on the coast. Is it sunny in Sydney?

Yeah MK I also noticed that and MT and I are STILL shrouded in almost 100% cloud cover.
