Amazing, just when i thought it cleared for good it's completely overcast again. Knowing our luck by the time this cloud clears it'll be replaced by that huge infeed from SA.

The cloud forecast would seem to suggest just that. A seamless passing of the baton from the local low level crap to the middle level junk from the west.

The GFS cloud charts for Sydney for the next week read like a Stephen King horror story.

The GFS cloud charts for Sydney for the next week read like a Stephen King horror story.... apart from the lack blood, gore and supernatural / diabolical themes.

Both the satellite picture and the 'look out the window' test seem to be indicating that for today at least, the cloud is starting to disperse.

It's actually been quite a mild November near the coast so far. OH has only reached 24 twice this month and I don't expect it to make it today with this E-NE'er. 'Sprummer' ended on November 1 and after an isolated hot day tomorrow the mild pattern looks like continuing.

It's summer out here at the moment. Running almost 4 degrees above average for the Max temps. You coasties had some cooler days that you're probably sick of. smile

The horror scum fest burnt off about an hour ago here. Its still rather cold though with a disappointing temperature of 23.4c. I noticed on the vis satellite that Wollongong is still shrouded in the rubbish, what a poor November it has been.

Tomorrow we have the CHANCE of getting our highest temperature of the year in Nowra. So far the maximum for this year is a lousy 34.9c ,captured back in January. Even Strahan in Tasmania , has had a 38c day this year. Goes to show what a scummy cesspool we live in.

And to add to the misery there is a strong clockwise eddy off the Hunter that is steering the warm current away from the coast. Anywhere south of the Mid North Coast is cruelly denied any of the warm, toasty goodness it so desperately needs!

Look at the IMOS site - http://oceancurrent.imos.org.au/SE/latest.html to see this dirty whirlpool. It doesn't look it is going anywhere soon.

November should be known as Cloudvember!!

Don't mind all this cloud if we were to get some much need precip, but its just not happening.

Mostly sunny now with just a bit high cloud drifting in from the west, quite warmish here considering there is a fresh NE breeze.

Well it's a nice day in Richmond. The low cloud has gone, revealing a few patches of fairly thin high cloud. The Easterly is much attenuated here and it's a pleasant 26 - 27 degrees.

The howling NE'er cleared the cloud away here at around lunchtime, revealing a completely sunny sky now with just a bit of high cloud around.

Looks like my forecast of 20-21C was pretty much dead on the mark for the coast. Doesn't surprise me, the forecast is almost always too high by 2-4C in summer.

That new list of towns on this forecast page http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/towns.shtml for tomorrow has 35 for Mona Vale, a beach suburb, and 29 for Cronulla, a beach suburb. confused

As there are no official weather stations at these locations we won't able to verify this after the event. Might have to check the PWS networks me thinks.

I wonder if these places have been selected get an AWS in the near future.

The temperature for Mona Vale and Cronulla would be based on what Meteye is saying. You can see on the map why Cronulla has 29 and Mona has 35. An issue with the 6km x 6km squares is that they won't always take into account localised topography or seabreezes that may only affect the extreme coastal fringe.
I would guess Mona Vale was probably chosen as somewhere to be generally representative of the Northern Beaches.

The Airport has 32 compared to 33 at Observatory Hill, although on a day which looks like there will be little resistance to the seabreeze until I would expect the Airport to be several degrees warmer than Observatory Hill. Maybe they're expecting one of those 'sneaky Southerlies'.

The scum fest is back now with fog on localized parts of the escarpment. It's been slowly clouding over since about 5pm.

I am looking forward to some heat tomorrow. Anyone else keen for some warmth? I just hope that the seabreeze doesn't hit too early. Luckily I think my suburb is away from the coast enough to not have a seabreeze until the late morning/early afternoon, but I guess we will find out...

Yeah it is a little strange that Obs Hill is expecting higher because even when there is a NWer at both stations, the AP tends to be warmer by about 1C. The only thing I can think of is also a sneaky southerly expected.

Had a bit of a laugh about that Kizz and Terry Hills at 33c. Maybe they think the northerly will be funnelled down the Hawkesbury river water course but the NE sea gale usually has that in check. I'm a little confused by that prediction by the BoM as well.

Obs hill may not go much higher than the max of 31.3C so far unless there's a westerly surge later on, the sea breeze starting to build up and is winning the battle. Bit of high cloud around, wind surprisingly light

Sunny, hot, fairly humid and with a surprisingly light breeze here. I did a bit of bushwalking in Lane Cove National Park this morning when it wasn't quite as hot.

Penrith and Richmond are about to crack 40, while most of Sydney is now close to the old Fahrenheit century.

Observatory Hill just snuck up to 31.5 while no one is looking. I note the wind there is ESE there, which is always warmer then an Easterly or NE'er.

Well it is one of those days where Obs Hill is so far behind that the vets will put up curtains and euthanise it to end the misery.
Keeping an eye on pretty much all of Sydney for a 40. Penrith only 0.2 off the magic mark as I type.

That sea breeze is very shallow. My site in Beacon Hill only just getting gasps of it in the last hour. Terrey Hills, which is just up the hill from Mona Vale, is roasting in the NW wind with no breeze in sight.

And I noticed Mascot is still 37 despite the ENE wind blowing for over an hour now.

Obs Hill should be at the morgue soon. No autopsy required.

Happy birthday PK smile

Warm out here, a max so far of 34 at the airport, town probably slightly higher.

A bit over 10 degrees more than the Nov Average. I daresay plenty of other towns in the same boat. smile

couple of models a bit more optimistic about 10 - 20mm out this way on Sunday, fingers crossed, we are well behind our rain for the year (again like many other areas.)

As a quick counterpoint, a little while ago Mt Read in western tas was only 3.2 degrees. smile
