Laidley appears fine for me as well.

BTW here's the output from the rainfall amount script for Brisbane I ran yesterday:

Certainly another glorious Sprummer day here.

'Sprummer' you say?

Came from an article I watched on Gardening Australia last night (you can catch it again today at 1pm on ABC)
I think this guy is right on the money with this.

Quote:
"I reckon there are 5 seasons. There's an early spring, which I call Sprinter - August and September, there's a Sprummer which comes after that for 2 months - October and November. There's a long summer which goes right from December through to March, a short autumn, a short winter - both just two months long and then you're back at Sprinter."

Well technically I grew up in Hattonvale (16 yrs) , moved to Gatton for a brief time, got married lived in Laidley. Left in '87; hardly recognise the place now.

Back to weather - looks like a hot one for down south today, we're only expected 34 degrees so I guess that's just another sunny day here!

Not sure which info you looked at but the hefty rainfall amounts in your region were actually showing up in the Bureau rainfall map below:

To add to that, Ken are you able to shed some light as to why there is no offical rain fail gauges from Wynnum/Manly area all the way along the coast down past Redland Bay?? I know that there is a weather station at Point Lookout and rain fall gauges at Ormiston & Dunwich all of which are completely unreliable.I would have thought that the Point Lookout weather station would be of particular use to the BOM is certain weather events and also be handy for wind observations & predictions. Having a look at the map above you can see that the bayside could do with some new offical weather stations and/or upgrades of the current ones.

Most of these gauges are flood alert stations, being located on various creek/river catchments for early warning of possible flooding. In the Wynnum ( where I live and report using my own gauge at Wynnum North via WZ when necessary ) to Redlands area there are no major systems except for maybe Tingalpa and Hilliard Creeks which both have alert gauges in their mid/upper reaches. There will be always be local flooding in various small creeks/gullies which abound in the Redlands area.

Fort Lytton and Manly railway station are official gauges as was one at the Qld Govt facility at Cleveland which seems to have suffered early cutbacks in 2012 under the new Qld Govt at the time. From memory there is/was an official gauge Redland Bay Bowls Club.

No, Darwin has constant dew points of 25-27 deg even at night, so we have a long way to go to get that far. Our DP's have been 18-21 deg with very occasional 23/24's so far.

If you go to somewhere like Darwin during the build-up to the Wet, a typical Brisbane summer's day actually feels "cool" and dry in comparison. Ours pales into insignificance compared to the heat and humidity they get.

Based on our 5000lt tank, from empty to full takes a good 25mm of rain on a roof catchment area of about 110 mtr.sq. After that it`s back to the creeks and ocean.:(

A quick check of recent observations shows Brisbane Airport mostly ranging from 20-22, and Darwin mostly around 23 or 24. Definitely some overlap though with the occasional Darwin reading below 22. Perhaps they are having a cool spell at the moment....

GFS for last few runs is starting to show signs of a significant rainfall event in a weeks time for inland areas, NE NSW and Se QLD.

Latest multi-model WATL/PME's been looking nice as well for inland areas - see below:
