Latest Warning

A low near the northern border of South Australia is expected to move southwards during Saturday and Sunday to be south of the SA coast on Monday. This system is combining with a tropical airmass to produce a significant rain band over northern and central parts of the State today, and this is forecast to extend southeastwards over the Mount Lofty Ranges and eastern districts on Saturday.

There has already been heavy rain near the northern border with 100 to 120 mm recorded at several locations up to midday today.

Heavy rain is forecast across the warning area today and Saturday, with the North East Pastoral and Flinders districts likely to experience the heaviest rain and largest totals. Thunderstorms are also expected this afternoon and overnight, mainly south of Port Augusta.
By midday Saturday, further rainfalls of 20-80 mm are likely north of about Clare, with some falls of 80-150 mm, particularly in the North East Pastoral and Flinders districts and along the ranges. This rain is likely to lead to flash flooding. Locations which may be affected include Oodnadatta, Marree, Roxby Downs, Hawker, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie.
Further south, falls of 20-60 mm are possible with thunderstorms and localised heavy rain, which may also lead to flash flooding. Locations which may be affected include Clare, Eudunda, Waikerie, Renmark, the Barossa and Murray Bridge.

Notable rainfall observations to 9 am Friday include :
119 mm at Tieyon and 90 mm at Mount Dare near the northern border, 45 mm at Marree, 42 mm at Minburra in the Flinders Ranges east of Port Augusta and 39 mm at Whyalla.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water;
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:40 pm.

Just on the borderline for my area.

Clare AWS had 27mm from that, going by radar was even more intense a little further west. Was a right moving cell as well that delivered the rain, it had interesting structure on appraoch.

Banging away from the cell to the north now, hope well cop another from the west.

Heres the northern cell, nothing to process images with atm so picture of back of camera. Can only presume this is a wall cloud now, was thinking at the time it had that look and position but assumed outflow dominance.

Clare clocking up the mills. Looks like what I call a vortex Markus. Would be nice to get the proper name for it poke Hard to tell from that angle though, vortex usually circular.

Interesting latest forecast from BoM. GFS really backing down on tomorrows rain then producing a big band on Monday. Bom still going for the areas of rain/poss flooding for anywhere north and east plus the Mid north. But for Adelaide hills have local flooding forecast for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

What a difference a mere 33km makes. Clare drowning under 32.6mm and we've had just over 4mm.

Hopefully there'll be more in it for us, but I'm not counting those chickens just yet. poke

Some tight convergence lines through Mid North, gotta wonder about rainfall totals through some areas.

Few strikes in the more southern stuff, praps some more storms to share around!

Latest EC is terrible basically a few mm's tonight tomorrow then it clears completely!

Holding my hope now on GFS & ACCESS which both return rain on Monday/Tuesday across the burbs,

GFS 80-100mm
ACCESS 30-50mm

With the likely hood of flooding, I'd be keeping the car in the shed, and watching it unfold from home!
