Is history about to repeat itself this year on April fools day ?
Last year the BOM predicted 26 degrees , we ended up with a new April record of 31 degrees.
This year BOM have put April first in at 25 degrees crazy
Amazing heat for the first day of April 2 years in row, even more amazing we have had only 7 days in the last 2 months that have been 25 or over. Mother nature really does have a sick sense of humour when it comes to April fools day in Hobart. poke
BOM also has tomorrow at 90 % chance of rain , a cooler day Friday at 16 degrees.

Last GFS modeling showing a real patchwork of temps at lower levels for tomorrow with area from Cradle down through the western half maybe a little lower than they were early today and a bit better than the eastern half. Could be the benefit of a somewhat more complex low forming on the surface now which drags some of the coldest air back down from the northwest rather than it drifting across the southern Vic coast. Anyway I think it does look interesting for Cradle... maybe all the way through to PB tomorrow morning.

Might still need a bit of luck though for much of the snow to fall.

Earlier today, Mt Wellington was below 1 degree, may have been one or 2 errant flakes about but only just, if at all. Rain will be very welcome.

Rain Glorious Rain laugh Over 30mm in the last two days.
Lenah Valley missed the hailstorm yesterday , but looking over the Derwent into town it was the blackest I've ever seen it.
My wife was in Hobart city at work when it hit, she said it was amazing and hail was bouncing off cars everywhere. An incredible pattern , that as the crow flies 3km away we never got a drop.
Todays rain , ye haaaa !! Yes Dave I think there was a flake or two on the mountain early this morning. Again it was as black as night up there from the Glenorchy side when I got to work.
I have been doing loads of washing of wet gear from two days in the mud , but geez I'm happy as a pig in it !!
Down forecast for Wednesday as well back to 23 now ? The High seems it will hover more over Vic and SA now instead of us.
Some great cool days around 16 degrees again probably over or near to the end of Easter.
By the way , are you coming down again this Year Dave ? I remember you usually visit around April ?

Just looked and currently 0 degrees on the Mountain. If it's a clear morning tomorrow I think there is a better than good chance of seeing a morning dusting .

G'day H2O, gee it's good that you finally had some decent rain. The mountain and it's streams, waterfalls, lush gullies will all be rejuvenated.

Sadly not coming down in the near future. Would really love to be living back down there again. Wife keeps mentioning it but as I remind her, we came back up here for family closeness and her mum (the only parent left) is unable to travel so we need to be closer.

IF we only cared about the 2 of us and nobody else, you would not be able to stop us returning!! smile

Making mud pies were we? smile

It's going to be a cooler than average March in Hobart ( min+max combined ), the first autumn month to be on the cool side since 2011. Hopefully the proper snow will be coming early this year.

Boy that's a low cloud base!! My old place in Ridgeway would have been foggy in that. smile

MH20, when you're up, could you possibly stick your head out a window and see if Wellington got any visible dusting anytime this morning (Thursday) - better still if you could get up there(or delegate)

thanks

Sorry for my absence , been laid up in hospital all day undergoing tests , nothing serious . I think they found a brain which is a good sign.
Pretty ruff night last night , went from 24 degrees at 7:00 pm to some time in the middle of night ? ( dam meds ). To blowing a gale and pelting rain come sideways. Sounded kind of icy though.
Still blowing gale now , and the odd shower coming through.
12 degrees at the moment with app temp of 3.5 degrees.
Mountain has cleared now , can't see any snow or snow drifts .
But that doesn't mean that there was nothing up there this morning. Might be something tomorrow early , I'll see if these drugs wear off and I get up early and have a peek.
Anyways , have a great Easter to all . May all your bunnies and bilbies be chocolate. smile

Access going for a huge change for Tas next Wednesday, GFS not interested at this stage, next few days of model watching worthwhile. smile

Models now smoothing down the Wed/Fri stuff and looking at the weekend instead. Still plenty of variation but a common trend indicates to me that something half decent will come along later next week down there. Some models even have quite a cool air push to the north island as well. smile
