Wow, just 2 hours down the road and it's a different story, still a nice day here. In Raymond Terrace about to watch San Andreas.

I expect late rain here tonight and looks like a wet drive back to Canberra tomorrow morning.

Light rain all morning here in Canberra for the third day in a row. Ramped up in the last couple hours to nice and steady. Looks like it will continue for at least another few hours.

This rain off the coast is teasing us. It is so slow moving. Interesting to see some development further inland around Bilpin.
Anyway, had a delivery of a couple of tonne of firewood this morning, so I think I'll go and light a match and get a few kilo's of it warming the house.

Can't wait to play with matches smile

Very dull and overcast out here but no precip. Maybe later. The question is, "will tennis be on tonight?" grin

Rain, rain everywhere.................except here. smile
Can't complain though. Very happy that Duane has had a good drop in Wagga Wagga, and the west of the state has had some slow drenching rain.
My turn will come a little later. Maybe another 10 mm's or so.

We've had moderate to heavy falls for the last couple of hours here. Very cold, the car says 12C. And there is a bit of southerly blowing. Felt like the rain came out of nowhere.

Yeah it could have been some clouds in the sky, but I'm not quite sure. I can't really make a comment on that, as it's FAR too complicated for my level of understanding.

Doesn't look like the showers are going anywhere fast. They're almost stationary.

Note the smiley face after my comment.
You're right about the stationary rain. It's only just started here, but has gone from nothing on the BOM radar to dark blue and green, and it's actually very heavy with gutters overflowing already, just within 10 minutes. Up till then, we'd had nothing all day.
Could be an interesting night. There doesn't really seem to be any general direction in the rain pattern. It just seems to be generalised over a large area. It's quite a strange radar at the moment.

Yeah I know you were only kidding. I just thought I'd put a little sarcasm in my comment. wink

For me it felt like it came out of nowhere because it was only drizzling and then we go inside the mall for a bit and all of a sudden it pours down and has done since.

Yeah the radar certainly looks very odd. The rain should be coming from the south, but it yet it's spread in an east-west line more than it's spread from north to south. Could be an interesting night indeed.

Relatively clear skies here, can see the rainband just offshore just sitting there, not in any hurry to make landfall here.

Pic of tonights sunset.

Beautiful shot there Eddy.
Can't believe the difference between there at sunset, and here, not that far south.
It's absolutely pouring here now. Radar appears to be underestimating, and it's not really showing any more than a shower, but it's much more than that. Gutters have not stopped overflowing for the past 45 minutes, and the family pet is now safely tucked inside. The water flowing onto her kennel was just too much. Easily had at least 5-6 mm's in the past 35 minutes.

Certainly dodged some stormy looking stuff late arvo. I'm currently beach fishing and no rain. Actually feels balmy. Gentle southerly breeze. Newie nearly got to 20 today. Very mild.
Anyone have an idea why pics won't display in posts. Trying to link from Imgur. The orangey sundown was a treat.

Here in the northern suburbs of Canberra the rain continues to come down. Up to about 60mm for the event. An amazing turn around for the Canberra area which had become very dry.

Nice sunset Eddy.

After some lengthy sunny periods in the morning, it's been dark and gloomy since about 3:00PM - no last minute sliver of sun or any double rainbow like yesterday. There's been light rain since then, although only adding up to a few mm. The rain rate does seem to be picking up now, however.

There have been a couple of isolated 25mm+ falls in the Sydney area - Cronulla and Little Bay. That rain band is slow moving - on the radar it looks stationary, but I think that it has been inching slowly North during the day.
