Yeah I noticed Mt Read was back on a couple of days ago Dave.

Good thing smile

I like comparing Mt Read to Cape Sorell when the winds are up

Winds not easing off at all here, rain very steady and quite heavy at times.

Just had a brief hail shower here. Nothing major, just enough to rattle my tin roof.

And another one just came through...wild night here.

20-30kts WSW

Hi all, Some amazing and pleasant Spring weather here in Hobart the last 2 days. We did get a few showers the evening of the day we broke 30c. However it is as dry as a popcorn fart and the humidity is very low. The nights have been coolish again , and that's bringing brilliant crisp mornings.
Looking ahead for Hobart it warms up a bit from Saturday onwards , nothing major around 22 about 4 over average.
I was just looking and next Thursday shoots right up again with 26c. That won't do the months average any good and will send it skyrocketing well back into record territory. Does anyone have any ideas on how long this next warm/hot spell will last this time?

Friday 16th looks hot in my opinion before a cooler change during the day. Another 30C? Quite possible. GFS models show a Tasmanian east coast low developing shortly afterwards, while the ACCESS and EC models say dry and cooler with high pressure basically over the top of us. Temps back to near normal.

I hear ya H, our average for October here is about 20 degrees but we are averaging about 7 above that so far!!! Sheesh, would take a very serious cold spell for us to have an "average" month now. You might be in a similar position. frown

A nice 17 down there today in Hobart smile We will be about 26.

Doesn't look like much weather in the next few weeks.

Weak cold fronts and not much else.

Getting very dry.

3mm so far this month.

Very dry indeed SF.

Been working in the garden last week or so and moisture is almost non existent in the soil. Wont be planting much unless we get some serious rain soon.

Been doing a bit of fuel reduction burning too. Wont be long and we will have a TFB State wide as fuel is dry to ground level already.

Hi Payshense,

I would think give it another week or two of dry weather and TFS will start the permit period for burning in Tasmania.

You can always get a permit to burn.

Only thing is it rules out burning log heaps!

Home now, drizzle falling and dogs are wet!

Just lit the fire!

Bit cold in Tassie for me after the last week of heat.

Hi All,
A magnificent Sunday and Monday in Hobart . Sunday topped out around 18 degrees and it was one of those days that the sunshine just felt warming in the cool breeze. A little drizzle overnight and early this a.m.
Today was actually cool , topped out around 11 degrees and the breeze made it long sleeves and vest day at work.
Wow! there is actually a Frost warning out tonight , 4 degrees in Hobart . I think there may a bit of a chance of some flakes on the mountain. It's that cold out tonight that I've chosen the reds again over a beer on the deck.
