Haha well done Dave! Best of luck in the semis!

We copped 7-1 in reverse last night against the top team. Now we are coming second last, and have to fight off the wooden spoon grin

Another cool one tonight - that'll keep Dave and Homer happy.

WR and I need some heat and storms please.

And Dave I like you post that kinda stuff. It keeps the forum interesting. That's why I'm thankful about the small group that does post here.

I agree Ben!! We need our storms and heat. smile

Lovin this off topic chat guys. Shame I can't talk much about the aforementioned sports because I don't really play them, although I do have a game of tennis with friends once every blue moon.

As for beer o'clock, well I have KFC o'clock which is every Thursday arvo with my mates!! poke Had KFC earlier too. Our group once bought 35 nugget snackboxes on my bday weekend back when they were $2. Oh and they were all eaten too! grin
The staff at Dapto KFC did not look happy!!

Just after I posted this moring about how beautful and sunny it was, cloud rolled in from the NE and stuck around for several hours. It seems to have beem what I call a "9:00 O'clock cloud band", which we get on this part of the coast when the synoptic situation indicates a weak on-shore circulation. The cloud band normally breaks up by mid afternoon and that happened today.

It is now clear and sunny but there's no warmth in the breeze. Looks like another crisp morning coming up tomorrow.

After a few days of fine weather and near average temps, next week is looking a bit unstable and interesting.

At least we get some nice weather for the weekend. Finally a sunny Saturday on the way, and some respectable temperatures as well for once, just on average and slightly above.

Unfortunately storm season shows no signs of getting into gear. Next week looks sad to say the least. Weather patterns need a significant shift before we see anything. Wednesday is the best chance, but NW winds at the surface indicate a dry out in the lowers, which would tend to favor the Hunter. The rest of week, the NE wind and resulting moisture is too shallow. A big dose of southern ocean air for next weekend and a shut down of instability for a further 4-5 days, is what the long range models suggest at this stage.

This time last month I would've been guessing a good season, but it's really become quite terrible.

Well it's still 20C here. I'm surprised it hasn't cooled down quicker if I'm honest.

Don't worry guys. I'm sure you will get some storms in the region next week as I'll be out of town. Traditionally, it generally goes off at some point in my absence. I'd be willing to put money on it!

Still only 19c at Obs hill with a forecast min of 14. This time last night it was 1c cooler. A while to go!

Lol do it, I dare ya!! But yeah it always happens to me too.

Well it is currently sitting on 13C so yet another coolish night. These nights have been great. The forecast reckons we could see a top of 28C tomorrow and 27C for Sunday. Overall a nice weekend on the way for the first time in a few weeks.

Hello Payshense - fancy seeing you in here!! Enjoy you're west coast warmth after a good cool down just gone through. grin

Ben - I had the 7-1 against last week!! Know how it feels. I played very well (for me) this week and was quite chuffed. Rolled the clock back a couple of years. You watch - next week I will be back to OLD Dave. grin

We had a lovely cool morning of about 7. Trouble is even with every window open the house is unable to cool overly much. Tonight will be about 11 and following nights getting progressively warmer. House won't cool below 19 or 20 then it will warm up by afternoon to about 24 or so.

Still - to be expected, it is Summer after all.

Like you guys, I'm bemused by the lack of storms this year, really only been some short bursts so far.

Maybe next year we will be whingeing about too many and flooding. Who knows???

100% sun out here today, heading for about 30. Already hot under the sun.

Yeah you're right Dave. We could be whining about floods this time next year. You just don't know aye.

Well finally the dry and lack of rain, along with bursts of heat has had an obvious impact here. Most of the lawns around the area are starting to get yellow-ish in the last week or so. The lawns have been lush and green for years (since about 2009 I think) but now El Nino is starting to make an impact.

Lush and green since 2006!!!!

WOW - all our grasses brown off without watering every year. Of course the frost brown it as well!! grin

Boy I'd even enjoy some cloud cover just to take some of the sting out of the sun the next few days. smile

Aah well the weather gods do what they want, we are spectators grin

Actually, just realised that I can hear Cicadas going grin Not an overly common thing here.

Yeah, well usually in our climate because we rarely get frost and rarely get extreme heat along with enough rain. Even in the middle of winter, the grass doesn't grow but usually it's still green all through. smile

I think the few rounds of extreme heat have started browning off the grass. There's still lots of green but the brown and yellows are starting to show. Since the 42C, 2 weeks ago, we've only had 0.2mm.

Btw we got down to 10C this morning!

Yeah it is for sure!! smile

What a nice day we have here today. It's warm but not humid and there's hardly any wind at all. In fact it's quite hard to tell the wind direction but I think it's a very light NEer.

There seems to be a weak southerly change anywhere south of Sydney. The temp is sitting on about 24C. I'd imagine that the winds will swing around the NE this arvo.

Another beautiful blue sky day here with light winds and cicadas, a nice change from recent weekends. The sun is very hot, but a cooler breeze is starting to pick up from the NE. Yesterday afternoon and evening actually felt cool with that sea breeze.

It has been nearly 3 weeks since the last rain (not counting a couple of spots adding up to less than a millimetre). The weather here looks set to enter a less stable pattern from tomorrow, with showers, maybe storms.

The second week of GFS shows a significant rain event developing in SE Qld on the 15th and moving South down the East coast to form an ECL off the South Coast at the end of the run (21st). But it's early days, we shall see.
