I've been watching the best light show to the NNE for a little while. Mainly crawlers but the odd GC. Pretty amazing.

Distant booms, rumbles and flashes and a curtain of rain against the sunset. That would be the storm now crossing SW Sydney.

I took a couple of pictures but it's hard to get a good vantage in the cluttered environment of the lower North Shore. I'll post if good enough.

Just further to my previous post. We're having a small but impressive storm here just at the moment. Heavy rain and plenty of flangage. I think something may have gotten hit over in the next street.

A detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for the Central Coast and SW Sydney cells a little while ago:

For people in parts of the
Greater Newcastle,
Sydney and
Gosford/Wyong areas.
Issued at 7:48 pm Wednesday, 9 December 2015.[/code]

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:45 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Liverpool and Wyong. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Sydney City, Sydney Airport and Sydney Olympic Park by 8:15 pm and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, waters off Bondi Beach and Belmont by 8:45 pm.

The wind is picking up here. The rumbles and flashes are getting closer and more frequent, but no rain.

Very strong winds and heavy rain now.
As before, it will be gone in about 5 mins.
No hail. A lot of lightning but strangely, not much thunder.
I know that sounds silly, but it's happening.

Lucky you guys lol. I think it's all over for here with the southerly moving up through here as I speak. It's such a weak and mild southerly.

I can see very regular flashing to the east and NE from storms out to sea and up in Sydney just to rub salt in the wounds. But I'm that desperate that I might just watch the lightshow for a bit.

OH gets 11mm in 20 minutes.

No rain here and the rumbling has receded. Looks like this storm just missed me.

Edit: very lightning-active to the South and SE.

Wow the lightning is actually really impressive and I'm surprised about the frequency of it. It's nearly constantly flashing. I'm envious but happy because I haven't seen this much lightning in ages!!

Yeah Waverider, the Southerly is through here as well. I'm about 5 or so km's West of the Airport as the crow flies, but it's weak as frown

This is a pretty good storm. It's hammered down and still going, heaps of CC lightning as well. Should be a good total out of this.

Least you're seeing something, I have to resort to YouTube to see what a storm looks like!!

Just hoping tomorrow fires.

We missed it on the LNS. Right in the gap. A trace and that's it. Southerly here now, quite gusty. Enjoying the light show to the east now

Yeah Max I hear ya. It's starting to cool down a fair bit here now so it should do that up there eventually too.

Despite the southerly, it's still going to be rather warm tomorrow anywhere away from the exposed coast.

Hopefully it fires tomorrow for you Eddy.
