Thanks dave, I saw one waterfall today and it looked pretty cool. Will post pics when I get home. I'm afraid I am mainly staying in the north so won't be able to see them, but hopefully there will be others around. It's great to hear of much needed rain in the west too. It may come to the north next week as well.

Hi Zoners, Hobart was really windy over the weekend with gust around the 100kmr. Very dry though and all it did was coat the deck furniture and the cars in a nice coat of grit. Temps were also in the low 20's still . Today we finally had our first below average day !! Yippee 16c but despite the blackest of skies still not a drop of moisture. Of well Rainy I'm glad your enjoying the trip and I'm taking to the course myself tomorrow on a RDO . I bet it pisses down . smirk

I hope your golf goes well mh2o. What course do you play?
You couldn't have picked a better day. Nothing on the radar and a good temperature too, with little wind.
Edit, looks quite windy on hodart obs but no wind here in north tassie

Hi all , about 18.5c here in the State Capital today . Still at times we had some very black clouds forming but gain they failed to deliver. Still well into record territory both night and day.
Some warm days coming up then it goes back to just above average till around Tues the 19th and beyond that it looks like another 10 day spell of low 20's. As mentioned above in the "warm start to April " thread it also could be a warm finish as well.
Hi Rainy , I usually just play the Southern Courses where they will let social players play on non comp days. Today it was Richmond Links , a very rough run down course slowly being bought back to it's former glory by the new owners. But still very very dry and in rough condition , water can only do so much good in this ongoing dry spell. I smacked my first drive just off the edge of the fairway about 100m from the green , I walked down only to find my ball in a massive crack with just the very top showing. I figured it was a free drop smile , my fellow golfers had similar problems throughout the round.

Hobart was certainly cooler than forecast and only made it 14.8c.
The heat is coming back for sure with next Tues showing a whopping 23c so far , the days around it also in the 20's mark.
I did a calculation on the rest of the days left in April based on Weather.com and it will average around 20c , so it's now a very good chance records will fall. I guess last month was extremely hot in the first 15 days then cooled , April looks like it will be right across the month with only odd cool breakout. The way it's going we will probably be having the same conversation for the rest of cooler months of the year as well. eek

Hi all,

Very dry as everyone has mentioned. Starting to get a lot of escaped burn off's atm as people under estimate how burnable the bush still is atm. 2 fires in our brigades area in 8 days.

Got cool quickly tonight, down to 8 degrees already.

I'd definitely agree with the BOM's decision to forecast 23 for Tuesday.
Might be offset a little over the weekend though, I'd expect around 15 on Saturday.

I think tomorrow will probably crack the 20 mark too, despite BOM's forecast of 19.

It's amazing how the consistently above average temperatures just won't go away from down there

Happy birthday MH grin Shame it's not Friday - could misbehave more on Friday night!! grin

That heat is refusing to let go for huge swathes of Aus. It is plenty rubbish that's for sure.

Hobart has had 2 days below average, so far we've had none. Many other locations would be quite similar. It's the back end of a MAJOR El Nino and it is letting us know it's not dead yet!! frown

I look at your 23 with Envy grin

Jumpers on!!!! smile That sounds so silly to most people living in cooler areas (as obviously it does to you as well) grin

Just noticed that Mt Wellington the coldest place in Oz atm, with a breeze it feels like about 5. Pretty fresh but not too bad really. smile

Enjoy your rain, hope you get plenty smile

Not to me it doesn't! I haven't worn less than three later since I've been here even though it has reached the high teens every day
Happy birthday mh2o. Hopefully you're having a good time and you enjoyed your golf even if the course was a bit rickety.

Yeah, It always gives me a laugh to see people here wearing jumpers when it's not cool.

I didn't grow up in a "cooler area" by any means, but I personally don't find jumpers necessary at any temperature above around 16/17.

Even coming from just Central Queensland, I find it weird how early people start wearing jumpers up here in Townsville.

Hi guys , and thanks for the best wishes ! I Had to work but they let me stay indoors all day smile
In the Capital today it started out foggy and rose to 19.6c
Tonight at the moment it's around 15.6c and not one breath of wind. So the smoke from the forestry reduction burns is starting to envelope the Valley. Also looking over the Derwent down there tonight and it's like a mirror and the Eastern shore lights are reflecting madly across the river. Hopefully the warmer days next week will mean a few showers creep in as well ?
My luck run out today so I will be back outside at work tomorrow so I hope it's not overly warm.

Forestry burns - horrid when that creates smoke all over the joint down there!!

Hobart today in a short temperature range topped out and 22c and hasn't gotten any cooler than the current 17c now at 10:30pm.
The promised forecast of a late afternoon cool change and showers is yet to eventuate , and I can't see any chance of any showers anytime soon.
Well when will Summer end ? every week I think that must be it surly , but alas no. Next week looking at Tues and Wed being at least 24c and some sites have Wed at an amazing 26C eek
Like those temps are something you would expect in April in Brisbane not all the way down here in Hobart.
We are now almost certain to smash another record for the hottest April .

Morning all , a bit cloudy here and no rain . Temps around 14c at the moment , 16c forecast.
The warm waters off the Tasmanian East Coast are here to stay and so are the Tropical Fish.

Hi all,

I'm happy to see the N.W. Tasmania (West Takone) radar back up and running after its upgrade to Doppler capability. Not sure when it came back online. According to The Advocate newspaper (http://www.theadvocate.com.au/story/3833207/west-takone-rain-radar-replacement/) it has happened in the last fortnight. Have missed it the last few months.

Belated happy Birthday MH.

Dave, not sure about track up Mount Read. Would love to get up there for a look.

I knew that they occasionally caught them off St Helens but that is sure a biggie!!

I used to say that Bathurst had 4 seasons, seems like we are dropping to 2 (a bit like Hobart) Too bloody hot too long and short winter!! Oh, and doesn't know how to rain anymore!!

Everything you hate is the same up here unfortunately.

I keep hoping that we will have a few cooler years now after the massive El Nino. I look forward to floods around here, been a long long time. The rivers need a flush, the farmers need rain before the frost (not going to happen up here).

No (proper) rain in sight and frosts about to arrive. Grass won't grow and farmers will be feeding stock all winter and autumn. frown

I dare say its pretty much identical down there, especially the eastern half.

All I do now is hope the day is not too hot, I'm past expecting any days below average this month, been none so far. We are running more than 5 degrees above average up here. 25 instead of 20. As for rain - not sure I remember what it is!!

Better smile, thinking about it all the time just depresses me. smile

Hey P - if it was an open track it would be an absolute ripper to get up!!! Talk about a potentially brilliant view!!!

currently about 3 degrees on Mt Read and Mt Wellington.

13 to 14 in Strahan & Hobart, 22 up here heading for 25.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend you lot!! smile
