Yes, certainly looks ok for a few highland flurries on Saturday, might have to shift my butt toward the ranges.

H20 - nah I reckon next week is a step down week for you and even us up here.

Another sliding change approaching you on Tuesday/Wednesday will keep thing ok.

You may get a single day spike from time to time as changes approach BUT I cannot see prolonged excessive warmth for you now. smile

Dan - maybe Golden Valley for you!! A bit better chance at around 300 to 400m grin

Mt W about 1.5 at the moment, very minor precip. A chance some of it could be sleety. Wind chill up there about -13, ouch!!

Higher Mt's to the SW probably saw some brief flakeage. At least it's a cool down again.

Tuesday/Wed another one coming.

Now you just need some major flooding event to put some water back in those dams, VERY unlikely though at the moment.

At least they finally found the fault in the extension cord.

Hobart about 14 now, only about 1mm precip sadly. Not unusual in SW setups like this one.

GFS has an interesting possibility (slim) for heavy precip on the eastern side next Friday/Saturday, different to Access and even if it came off, may only stay in the NE of the state. Just hoping things can alter and make it happen and be further south.

Sadly though I don't think GFS is correct on this one.

Had some good rain last two days. 65mm in the 48 hours to 9am today. 33mm and 32mm respectively.

Pretty wild day here so far. Still getting some heavy showers. Mount Read has recorded gusts to 72km/h this morning.

8 and feeling a lot cooler.

Very windy here in Hobart sunny and no rain since a big 1.2mm last night. So all the wind has done is make it even drier and dustier , sitting on 17.7c at the moment. Interesting that BOM still have next Tuesday at 22c when 3 other sites have a 25c booked in. I'll put my money on the 25c , plenty of talk going on here locally and state wide about the under estimation of rainfall prediction for the dams. I read and article the other day and some one in charge of Hydro still expects we will get at least average rainfall in the dams in the next 3 month period. I think the chances of that happening are very unlikely , we are stuck firmly in a dry drought pattern and it make take years to return to anything like average. On top of this the climate is changing to a much drier pattern anyway , so I think the days of expected average rainfall are gone.

Had some good Squalls coming through from the SW this afternoon. Thunderstorms, Hail and some really heavy downpours.

I would tend to agree. I've just had a look at the models and I'd be definitely expecting a 24 or 25 degree day on Tuesday. BOM going for a Possible Shower during that Tuesday/Wednesday period with the change, but the models aren't very keen at all.

I'd also be expecting cooler conditions for Wed, Thu & Fri than the current forecast. Maximums probably closer to 15C than the 17C the BOM have forecast.

And I'd be putting my money on a 5C or 6C morning on Thursday rather than 9C.

That's just my two cents worth poke

On another note, daylight saving time ends tonight across SE Aus.
It must be a weird feeling going from a 7pm sunset tonight to a 5:45pm sunset in just over a week from now!!

Here's a few wind observations so far today.

Mount Read, just up the hill from me, has recorded gusts to 83km/h in last couple of hours.

Cape Sorell near Strahan, gusts to 72km/h

Maatsuyker Island, off the SW coast, has had gusts to 115km/h.

Hi all,

Had 2.8mm till 9am
And 1.2mm today.
Ytd 157mm

Max gust at home last night 74km hr.
Today we averaged 34km hr most of the day and gusted to 67km hr.

Temp was down to 8.7 degrees after showers at 5.30pm!

Looks like the hydro did well in the last 24hrs with up to 280Mw of wind and some positive inflows after the rain.

For someone who lives in a non-daylight saving area, it's amazing to see the change that it has made to the days on the Hobart camera!

6:50am and 7:10am Saturday and Sunday mornings:

Yes definitely a STEP DOWN week in my mind for temps down there. We will be delayed a step down till next week I reckon but finally shoving the persistent heat well north. About time!!

H2O, who knows what will happen re nino/nina and the effects down there. Rest assured, there will come a time when you are sick of the rain!! grin It will flood again in Tassie, nothing surer. grin

Just not sure exactly when smile

Certainly the state of the dams on the eastern side not good. At least the western dams etc should have picked up some increases with rain in last few days. smile

Hi all, well sitting on 21.5c so far today here in the capital.
Sunny cloudless days continue as the warmth and dry hangs around. Apparently all the major newspapers run half page ads on the weekend from Hydro and Tas Govt appealing to the community to save water and power. A bit late me thinks but nice thought , I think we are actually about 3 years into this warm dry cycle at the moment. When it will break is anyone's guess , the bonus is the lawn hasn't been touched in those 3 years and remains a dustbowl. smile

Hobart ended up at very warm for April 22.2c today , the BOM has finally got the message and have tomorrow at 25c now. Oh well might as well forget any cooler weather and start preparing for the real heat onslaught again only really 4 months away.:)

I'm heading over to Tassie is a few days time. And I'm bringing every single jacket in my wardrobe! I hope there will be more 25 degree days when I'm there, but I'm not expecting the temp to exceed 20 degrees. Its warmer in winter where I'm living.
