Interesting round 3!
Rabbotohs went down,Broncos went down, Melbourne storm just hung on by the skin of their teeth and the Raiders and Knights finished in a draw.
Funny thing is i tipped the Panthers for the past 2 weeks, and the very week i don't tip them... oh well smile

I dont understand all the confusion around Inglis and his *controversial* play.

Quite smart really. Rabbitohs had absolutely no go forward. 35M out with one play left and 2 seconds on the clock, go for the drop goal and get the ball back for 1 play ( assuming they stop the clock properly )

Terrible game though, painful to watch.

Try being at the game. eek

It was atrocious on all accounts.

Souths though they were playing a dry weather game, instead of a wet weather game where you just go forward and makes the space when in oppositions territory. Our kicking game was non existant. Who was our captain? Oh yeah he had a brain snap, not only the field goal, but also throwing a ball and a Dragons players head. He may have thought that a Dragons player may tackle him around the legs and get a penalty goal as well.

Refereeing was sub-standard, including the video refs. How was Paul Carter's try disallowed for an obstruction, when the Dragons player was never impeded, but he was too lazy and threw his arms up saying he was obstructed when he wouldn't have done anything to stop the try at all. Reminds me a couple of years ago when Sutton tried to claim obstrucion against a Broncos player when Sutton was just to lazy to even have an attempt to stopping the try. The Knights and Souths game had two tries disallowed for this stupid rule of obstruction when they should have been awarded tries.

But I will give the game to the Dragons, they took it to Souths and eventually won the game with persistence.

Since when is someone out of the field of play, still classed as in the field of play?

Bad call that one. But i suppose it made up for the gillet try that was ruled no try. Only thing that i find disappointing is another game that should have been a draw was a golden point farce.

Cowboys threw a blatant forward pass in their last set of extra time, and that led to them getting to the other end of the field for Thurtsos no try ruling. Was a forward in the middle of the field at about halfway early in the set.

So really the Cowboys shouldnt have even been down on the Broncos Line.

Regardless, Cowboys probably should have been given a scrum for the Broncos winger being out of touch and having his hand on the ball.

I am sure though that if the REF went upstairs with a try, it would have been given.

Yeah, some strange decisions in that Cowboys-Broncos game.
A shame the Cowboys did not get over the line, but the Broncos put themselves in a position to win it.

That try by Thurston that was disallowed was correct. I didn't have the issue of the grounding of JT.

This ruling stated (and which I totally agreed with) that the player who tried to keep the ball in the field of play, which then touched his foot, the bunker ref could not determine whether the battered ball had travelled backwards or not, and thus stayed with the on-ground ref's decision of no-try.

However, this does conjure up another dilemma. Was that player actually was also purposing to be kicking that ball ahead as well? Whenever you see a person kicking the ball, whether a drop kick or any other kick, the ball is generally dropped in a more forward position ahead of the player whilst swinging his boot.

In the above mentioned disallowed try, as the ball did not touch the ground before the player kicked the ball with his foot, and that player had still not touched being outside of play thus still in the realm of play, would that constitute a try then, even though the ball may/would be travelling forward before it touched his boot??

Technically, it still could have been awarded even if the ball was travelling forward. But I think common sense application of the rules would have that player never had full control of the ball when he touched it with his foot.

I agree with you Dawgggg, if the on-field ref said when referring it to the bunker that he though it was a try, then it would have been awarded a try, as the bunker ref couldn't overturn that decision either. But I think the on-field ref took the more conservative option of saying "no try" especially at that pinnacle point of the games.

As with the rest of the game, there were more forward passes by either team (in fact by every team) that should have been called up.

As for the Bunnies, well I did tip against them, and the Bulldogs was playing their game to their strong points. It was a reasonable turn out for the fans, but with the show next door, who could blame any Souths fan going to the Easter show to watch timber being chopped up, then to watch their team being chopped down with its defences. I must be a sadist as I did watch the game instead (even though I do like watching timber chopping).

The thing that really gets on my grips is why is Madge persisting with Cameron McInnes (whom I and a few fellow supporters term as "McIdiot") as hooker, when the time Damien Cook was on the field (only for 30 mintues!) Souths had more go forward, better defence and actually was scoring tries! If Madge is feeling the heat, he should be after that lot. As well, I wished GI had moved to Brisbane in my books, as he is hopeless as a captain, and only plays 20 minutes a game. No wonder Melbourne Storm used Slater as their fullback.

Poor old dragons kept scoreless for the second week in a row, courtesy of another legendary QLD team! In saying that, broncos could've played a lot better, too many unforced errors could easily have been a higher score. But who cares, still gave 'em a flogging!

So much handling error by the Dragons. Not much point getting the ball to the 10 if you're going to drop it 5 sets in a row once you get there. Sloppy.

Stormies lucky to scrape home with a win in a sloppy game against the Tigers. Still, happy with the effort considering their injury list.

Broncos Cowboys Grand Final thanks.

Ive watched every game of every round so far this season, and no teams come close to the 2 above teams.

They are in a league of their own at the moment. Even though the sharks have won 4 in a row, they are not pretty. Hats off to Paul Green and Wayne.

Top 4 at the moment on current 4 would have to be
Cowboys Broncos Sharks and Possibly the Storm?

Raiders, Penrith, Bulldogs, Eels? Who actually is consistent? Absolute [censored] fest to try and tip any of these teams. Dont even get me started on the Dragons and Warriors.....

Titans have some mongrel in them, awesome to see, but they missed Bird on Saturday, could probably guarantee that they would have won if Bird played. Bird adds that creativity on the outside.

Agree on current form the Cowboys and Broncos are the two to beat but it's a long way to the other end of the season and injuries can change everything.

The Cowboys stopped playing at the 75th minute the other night. Great game nonetheless. The one Parramatta game a watched a few weeks back was the best they have played in years.

Broncos and cowboys both playing as last seasons finalists should be. Very well indeed. Storm... Can't see it this year but never write them off with their experience. Eels are definite contenders this year depending on their salary cap punishements(and I honestly don't know what is going on I that regard. Seems a convoluted mess). Sharks are pretty good and I honestly wouldn't rule out the raiders either although that is unlikely.

....and I wouldn't want to be the team playing the Broncos if they make the grand final after last year's one point loss Trav.

Storm won off the back of West's woes rather than raw talent tonight and were lucky to get away with the win after some terrible ball control in the last 10 minutes and on thier own line several times.

The game would be a lot better too if they got rid of Fitler from the sideline. What a moron.

....and in all seriousness, name me a season when the Warriors have been consistant?

Lol Warriors make me cringe. Every week.

Who do you tip tomorrow? Ive gone Penrith, if Moylan was not playing I would likely go Roosters.

All reports I have heard, is that Eels will likely lose 8-12 points. Its likely all media build up though.

Hows Barbas form of late? Love seeing him in open space...

Change to Fox CF. Best thing you will ever do.

Vossey is the man. CH9 are muppets for punting him.

I'll eat a glass sandwhich before I support Murdoch wink No foxtel for me after they trashed the NBN to protect that grub.

Yeah Barba is playing very well. Penrith should win.
