Please post your Autumn and Winter weather images here.

It has been dry, particularly smoky and quite warm out on the SW Slopes of NSW ... and the Might Murray River has blooms of blue green algae, unfortunately.

Here are a few Autumn images from the Hume and Hovell Walking Track approaching Albury, NSW.

Smoke and rain, over the Murray to Victoria ... from Eastern Hill, Albury, NSW.

Tabletop Mountain.

Murrumbidgee River Valley to the Bramina Wilderness. The Bramina Wilderness joins the Northern Brindabella Ranges, ACT, to near Wee Jasper, in NSW.

Warm evening, soft light, nice track ... the Cork forest, the National Arboretum, ACT. The Cork forest was planted in 1892 and the corky bark has been harvested several times.

Warren.

Eddy, G'day and thank you Mate.

Catching-up with the fabulous images posted on the Forum, now, those posted over the last few months, I doubt that my images have been missed. My images are only good for differing levels of visibility, and for not much else, unlike you other weather gods (and you all know who you are) that appear to create suitably spectacular pictorially beautiful weather ... hey Skysthelimit et al?

More limited visibility. Urambi's twin hills to Mount Tennant (1390m), ACT ... taken from Dairy Farmers Hill, in the National Arboretum, ACT.

Warren.

Great sunset shots EddyG! smile

Also more good photos from you Wild Wassa, as always mate. I presume that photo of Tabletop Mountain was taken from Eastern Hill Lookout in East Albury? I've never actually been to that lookout before, but thanks to you I have found another suitable vantage point in the Border region, at least with views to the north/northeast - would be great for watching summer storms in the future! smile

Nice photo of Mount Tennant as well, I've only managed two shots of it myself and both were fairly lame ones. One was taken on the Monaro Highway just inside the ACT after coming up from Merimbula and Cooma back in January 2014.

The other was taken not in Canberra or the surrounding ACT rural area, but near Yass. I was riding the NSW XPT CountryLink on my way home from Sydney to Melbourne via Albury/Wodonga last winter. The Melbourne-Sydney Railway passes through some very hilly countryside between Yass and Gunning, particularly around the small town of Jerrawa. Aside from the Brindabella Ranges, the only geographical landmark inside the ACT that I could see (in spite of the overcast weather) was Mount Tennant, some 85km to the south.

At least I know what I need to get a better shot of next time I visit the Capital! smile

I really love that Milky Way shot Eddy. ISO, aperture & shutter speed????

Obviously no breeze, the tree is sharp. grin

Decent tripod, did you trigger by remote or self timer?

Can't be too long a shutter because there are no obvious star trails. Around 1 or 2 minutes?

Thanks DaveM
Shutter speed 15sec, ISO 5000, aperture F4. Shutter release cable was used and obviously a tripod was needed.
Not a breath of wind that night and by far the clearest I've seen the night sky in sometime.
I reckon out your way you would see some unbelievable night skies?

Cheers mate I appreciate the info. A bit more readily available than trying to remember it yourself on film cameras. grin

5000 ISO - works fine in the more modern sensors but my ole Nikon D60 is now 8 years old. I would need to keep my ISO to about 800 I reckon and extend the shutter speed to about a minute. I might use 1600 as a bit of fun but it's probably noisier than your camera at 5000 iso.

If I ever get a few bucks spare I will update my camera body, not soon though. frown

Maybe I'd even try a smaller aperture size, say F8 to get into the sharper lens area.

I'm too bloody lazy to get out there is my biggest problem!!

Sunset on the 25th May, this was taken well after the sun had set and the vibrant colours had gone, but there were some soft reds in the clouds.
Exp 115 sec, iso 100, F-stop 22.

Aussie', G'day.

It was taken from Eastern Hill, but not from the main lookout. It was taken on the ridge but from one kilometre South of the main lookout where the Hume and Hovell Walking Track abruptly starts to descend to the river.

... and where Big Ben Mountain in Victoria can be seen through the trees. To the left of Big Ben is Mount Bulla on the horizon (?).

Cold days when the App Temp was well below 0C.

Early morning, Lake Ginninderra, ACT.

Little Corellas (wide spread form) on the banks of the Lachlan River, Riverena, NSW.

Smoke settling. Early evening, from the Molonglo River Valley, ACT ... to the Bramina Wilderness in NSW.

Warren.

Rain in the SW Slopes of NSW ... and on the Riverena Flatlands.

A portrait of White Pine (Callitris glaucophylla) with a past visit from lightning. North of Rankin's Springs on the SW Slopes.

The grey soil and early wheat crop, North of Griffith, NSW.

I rode past the grey soils to the vibrant red soils near Hillston, NSW.

Then the rain stopped and the flatlands looked even more amazing.

Midday 13 July, there was a break in the clouds. Snow fell all day on the Northern spurs of the Alps and obscured further views. The App Temp at midday was -13.6C at Mount Ginini, ACT.

A snowy Tidbinbilla Peak with Johns Peak (the small peak beside TP) and on the right is the Camel Hump, the Tidbinbilla Range, ACT. The dark range is the appropriately named Black Hill and the ridge in the foreground is the Bullen Range, still in the ACT.

Some Winter days just aren't that cold ... early morning and late afternoon, Murrumbidgee River Valley, ACT and across the river in NSW.

Fog in the valley, 9.00am. App Temp 8.6C.

Late afternoon light, 3.00pm. App Temp 8.6C.

SNAP!

Awesome photos Wazza, seems you've been around different areas lately. I went up to the High Country a couple of weeks ago and it's such an incredible place. So is the nearby low country like the Tumut Valley. I can see why you explore everywhere around there. smile

Wave Rider, G'day Reilly. I hope that you are powering along Mate. College must be in the last throes for you now? ... then there's time for you to further explore, before Uni starts?

Photographing the weather in familiar places close to home, gives me the most pleasure. Like these images from today.

Two snowbows and a snowfall ... in the ranges of the ACT.

Some people on Sky Weather thought that it was a horrid day today in the ACT ... I thought that today was a beautiful day.

Warren.
