The ride to work today was just crap, drizzle, cold and a howling SE headwind. I thought one of the reasons I lived in Cairns was for the beautiful winter weather

Lol, whine, whine, whine. I thought I whined a lot, you guys take the cake.

I do wonder why a staffy would lie on top of a feather quilt and shiver instead of burrowing under, dumb or what?

Worth whinging about i reckon Dormant, closest station South Johnstone has maxed at 20.6c so far today. I could count on one hand the number of times I've had to wear a jumper for a whole day in FNQ.

My beloved SOI finally rises sufficiently far enough that I can believe it will continue to rise. The rain and showery periods will of course persist over the next couple of months or more

Big flooding in India and Phillipines, a portent of what could ahead for some parts of AU??

Should be damp week according to Roger Stones email ......

I did notice that, Ron, that South Johnstone always managed to do a lil bit better or worser. Certainly it's the totals I quote to partner while in sunny California for the pity me aspect.

I even started knitting a mohair jacket, gawd I hope I don't have time to finish it.

Lol @ Port Douglas/Four Mile Beach webcam - some hardy souls out there.

It's a very chilly 25 degrees out here today. Overcast all day.
Got my uggs and hoodie on.
I'd only just emailed a friend last night and said winter had been and gone and thought I'd missed it.

Lololol, oh for goodness sake, Pogo, you're more old woman than... well you know who, stuff some newspaper in the toes.

Funny how this rain is only a mild white blur on the radar. I feel like going to bed, staffy's already singing to me in her sleep behind me. It never made 20C inside the house today - that's what you get for tiling everywhere.

The comparison looks like heaven and hell, Ron..is that breaking waves in the middle of the last photo..?

I sure hope Wandjina is wrong with his predictions...its time for the dry season surely...

Dormant don't you have a coat for your staffy..?..my little girl wore hers all day today..as did my boys dog..she shivers in anything under 25 degs..

Radar shows 'stuff' going east, south and northwest, peculiar.
32mm last 24 hours, also peculiar, felt like the gauge was filling up.

Er, no, Pogo, never thought about it - I must be a bad mother. Where'd you get yours from? Can't imagine a knitted one (by me) staying on and actually fitting.

I can guarantee the weather will clear up, at least around Cairns, on Thursday/Friday.
I shop in Cairns every 2 weeks, and really look forward to getting wet, for a change from our brittle dry weather. I have been continually disappointed. Even through the Wet Season I never actually managed to get wet.
