A flashback to dryer times. Bethanga Bridge at Bellbridge, on the Murray River, Lake Hume, NSW/Vic. Photograph courtesy of Mr Kim J Keegan and Creative Commons.

Bethanga Bridge and Lake Hume, at 97% capacity on 11th September. Thanks to snow melt and good rain.

... but now too much rain. There is minor flooding in Albury and and the SES are helping with evacuations downstream.

Minor flooding in Noreuil Park, Albury. Pringle the dog, showing onlookers the correct use of a wooden snorkel.

I asked the owner of Pringle, why did he call her Pringle. He said, "Because her mother is called Cheezel." I should have known better than to ask?

Receding dark water, Noreuil Park ... which didn't recede for long, after more rain.

Today, 18th Sept the Murray River at Albury, is at 4.6m. Yesterday, 17th Sept. the SES took 10 hours to evacuate the caravan park at Corrowa.

Warren.

Yeah, thanks wassoly. Interesting to see where 'our' water ends up after it leaves the highlands. There's more on the way.

Hey Eddy, in your vast collection of fantastic photos, have you got any of the old fishing shacks at Tamboi? The ones at the bend before you enter the Broadwater.

I do not have any photos of my family's old place, only very fond memories.

Unfortunately I haven't slipperyfish, I was actually up there early this year fishing and had full intentions of taking some shots, but the weather was rather wet and didn't want to risk getting the camera wet!! But I will ask around for some pics, and next time up there I will take some pics for you.

I like the signature shadow smile

Did you need ND filters to get a shutter speed slow enough for that?

Oh and stunning image of course grin

A good start to the severe weather season in SA!

Some pretty decent flooding around as well!
The road north out of Clare during the floods, half a metre deep in places.

Markus - really good stuff there just as you usually provide. smile

Some really good cloud features, love the wispy bits in the first one - lovely patterns. A little funnel in the second one and general menace in the next couple. grin

Fair expanse of flood water in that last one!! Thanks for posting those. smile

Thanks DaveM.
I used a ND Filter, I think from memory its 3 stopper.
Shutter speed was 1/5 Iso 100 F22.

Markus, some jaw dropping structure, brilliant stuff!!

A good polariser and you should be able to get a shutter speed of about 1/15th - 1/20th and that should be slow enough to get that effect!!

Once again thanks for sharing your pics Wassa and Eddy. Yeah bridges are always the best way to gauge differations in water levels. You get to know what 'normal' is. Its also pleasing to appreciate a well designed and constructed bridge as in the picture. Not only practical but a work of art.
As for your beach shot Eddy I just wanna feel that cool water on my feet as I soak in the sunshine and sea air. The simple things in life. I don't want much.

Well for those of you who don't know, SA had a once in 50 year storm event just recently. Marcus captured some stunning images and shared them with us. Now its not every day that you get tornadoes predicted in your weather forecast. Not only that but they actually delivered. There were tornadoes sighted and recorded all around me . I actually went out twice on a chase but had already decided I wouldn't travel too far from home as I shouldn't need to. The bad news is that I had no luck whatsoever. Took a few conciliation shots but nothing worth sharing. Never mind. Marcus showed us what I missed. He and I live all of 80 kms from each other so we sometimes bump into each other roadside during a weather event. Small world.
Anyhow my pic is of some cloud iridescence from 2 days ago. Almost reminds me of some of those deep space nebula shots. I'm only sorry I couldn't deliver a tornado frown

Forgot to mention your dramatic wild weather shots Eddy. Love that first one. Would've been great fun watching that rolling towards you. I'll be up early tomorrow to catch the full moon setting. Whats the bet it clouds over.

Thanks Skysthelimit, I can safely say the water is very refreshing, about 16.5c.

As for your weather in SA, you guys have had the pick of storms across Aus and the pictures show it too. And that's some bright iridescence too, great capture!

Eddy, G'day. The Fridgehenge is one of several fridgehenges world wide, it's East of Yass, at the corner of Dog Trap Road and the Yass Valley Way. There is also a large Easter Island head in the paddock, made of rusted iron plate.

Two shots from the Yass Valley taken in the early evening, on the 14 November 2016.

A vivid rainbow at Potts Hill, 4 klicks North of Jeir Marchment RFS.

Many showers. From the same spot looking SSW towards the Northern Brindabella Ranges and the Berami Wilderness. The showers, dozens of them, when they arrived were wet but none lasted more than a minute or two. Crazy weather.

Warren.
