Anybody want to start a thread regarding the coming week for inland NSW, looks like rain, rain and ruined crops. Hopefully all insured, and Oats will be in over summer ( I believe Oats can be grown then? no sure as I am a Wollognong city boy)

You wouldn't want to be a canola grower right now, but I suppose they might still get a crop if we get a dryspell. Any one who plants in lowlying fields always takes a bit of a risk. I think grain crops in well drained fields should still be ok in cooler areas. Lucerne should do well if you can get out to cut and dry the crop. I use spoiled lucerne for mulch, it could be a good year for cheap bales of spoiled hay.

Would be a nice view from the top of Uluru right now, not that you should climb it anymore, certainly some nice voltage hitting the desert in the canola destroying approaching trough. My mate uncle toby reckons oats are harvested in october/november, with a new mitika strain that can succeed in drought and floods

Can anyone see where the BOM are getting their call for 20 to 30mm for tomorrow? I'm not seeing it in the models (Access & GFS that is)??

Seems that those models are saying much less than that to me.

Wow, what a turn around! Freezing levels for tomorrow's system have jumped from 800m to 2200m for the OP. And that low that was forecast has disappeared...

What a shame.

Another 4 mm last night, doesn't look like it is ever going to let up. I don't recall such an extended wet spell since I moved to Bathurst 22 years ago, and at such a cool time of year. I don't buy firewood but I imagine there might be a bit of a shortage now, probably a few firewood trucks stuck in paddocks buried up to the axle. My supplies are getting low.

Too right greg. This one reminds me of the 80's (after 1982 of course). Really solid winters and springs year after year.

A cool signal over most of the Southern half of Australia for the week after next for the first time in months. As has been the case all year, the Tasman Sea is hot, with the seaboard between the two apparently average (i.e. Cooler than it's been).

Models seem to show a continuation of the current pattern, with frequent rain systems coming down from the NW.

I'm loving these NW rain systems.
It's "rinse and repeat" every 4-5 days, and it's keeping things interesting.
Every system has a cut off low setting itself up in a different position, giving rain to different areas.
It's has been an interesting month, and appears to continue for several weeks to come.
I might go for a drive with the kids over the holidays. I'd love to see the lush pastures over the inland.

Been letting rip here at Cooks Gap all day and still coming down. There's a reasonable chance that a lot of local roads will be closed due to flooding (6 are already closed). As soon as I get a chance I'll go out and have a look in the rain gauge smile

Been a mainly dry afternoon here, just a couple of mls during the morning. Radar suggest we will be getting some more rain later on.

Hi Max744, where about is Cooks Gap?

Overcast start to the morning here. The rain started at about 9 am and was fairly lightish until about 2 pm, when it started to become moderate, with some quite heavy shorter periods - pretty much in line with what the radar was showing. If we were under one of those yellow blobs, it was quite heavy.
Temp has hovered around 14 degrees all day.

20mm here and still raining. My new wireless raingauge says 17.4mm so I need to adjust about 12% up to get actual rainfall.
The creek is up again, can hear it roaring from in the house.

El cheapo brand, "semi pro" $32.50 on ebay. The first one didn't work but they sent me a replacement.
