The low isn't too far away now, tracking across the CT's on Canobolas southside. The main cloud mass which brought steady light-heavy rain all day has moved is to the east replaced by distinct cloud bands interspersed with drier air. Makes interesting spiral patterns on the vis static as the light fades. Heavy rain with the most recent spiral band for 5 mins pushed today's fall to well over 30mm.

That's an excellent drop there OR.
Are you like Dave and have had enough, or is Orange and surrounds coping alright with all this rain?
I know you're more elevated with better chances of runoff, so maybe that helps?

Hey Eddie, It's about 40km's North of Mudgee just off the Ulan Road. Oh, and incidentally, Ulan Road has now been closed to all traffic at the bottom of Frog Rock Hill due to flooding.

That band just passed through here, brought me up to 28mm. Now the creek is really high. I was standing by my bridge with a torch watching the water rise when a water rat paddled past less than a metre from me, heading upstream. Must have been flooded out of it's burrow, seemed to be handling the raging torrent pretty well.

Ordinary day, so far 18.6 mm of rain since 9am, most of that has been later in the day. (luckily for the missus who went ballooning at the crack of dawn this morning).
Max only about 15.6C, well short of the 19C forecast.
Hopefully this is the last sub-16C day here for the year.

Surprisingly foggy here tonight. I can see it amongst the trees.
Quite an eerie feeling.
Fire has been going to keep the house toasty. It got a little cold today.
We've had 13 mm's since 9 am. Looks to be a few more showers coming through and I expect a clearing in the morning.
Currently 12.9 deg's.

Hey Homer - I think we've had enough rain for a bit but I will never complain about it smile I grew up in dry areas (Coonamble for example) and we never knew when we might get more. With rain. it's still que sera sera smile

Mate re a drive out this way - do it!! It is stunningly green everywhere and lush. It will stay green for quite a while this year I reckon.

We could possibly even have a very rare green summer if it keeps raining regularly.

The breeze here today is QUITE chilly. It's currently a bit under 8 degrees and the wind is making it feel MUCH cooler than that.

Might resurrect the fire tonight. smile

9.2mm in the 24 hours to 9am. Quite breezy, but the wind chill is not all that bad here, definitely don't need a heater or fire going here!!

Show us how green it is DaveM?

30mm here on Sunday and 65mm over the last 2 weeks . It had started to dry out a little by Saturday, but back to sodden conditions again. We’ve had well over the normal monthly total for September and there is still another 11 days before month end. What a difference to September last year! Pasture has really greened up, thanks to a dearth of frost, and pears are at bud swell. Another overcast day out here, and very chilly. We had the fire running all weekend, but the supply of dry wood is getting low – need some sunny weather to dry it out.

I might just do that Dave. Very keen myself, but the kids are getting a bit older and drives into the country are becoming less their thing, and PlayStation and Nikelodeon are more their form of entertainment these days. I'll try and throw some more convincing arguments their way. I'd love to see it myself though.

I personally would also love to visit the Simpson/Birdsville, or even Alice/Uluru would be quite the spectacle. Would be great to see our red center come alive!

My mind is filling with summer holiday ideas now. smile

Whilst I agree seeing the red centre green would be an amazing thing, bugger going to those places in summer. Too friggin hot.

Some of the best Summer holidays I've had have been at Malua Bay, or last year for the first time, a cruise to the south Pacific.
Sydney is hot enough in summer. I'm not going somewhere hotter. grin smile

Just heard from my daughter in WEE WAA that they are isolated by the Namoi flooding. Could be a couple of days before they can get out again. At least the levee banks keep the water out of town.

Homer - I hear ya re the electronics. My son (35) has been addicted for years, finally settling down a bit though the last 6 months or so.

Currently out here it looks lovely because once the frosts go you get such a strong onset of rapid growth and it seems extra green.

Mind you we probably had a light frost this morning before the sun rose.

This shows how wet it has been this spring - today I found a nice patch of morel mushrooms in a field of native grass. What a find, will be a good dinner tonight.
