Gee I've had enough of these westerly winds, they can bugger off now. I have had enough static in me to start my own electricity company!!

Can't wait to see some nice high humidity and dewpoints, long over due.

Wow 26C predicted tomorrow, that caught me a little off guard. Then 29C on Friday and 32C on Monday. Definitely nice to see the heat staying in the models, but the change after Monday looks like it will drop temps a fair way.

Today could see a surprise 30 in the Basin, and the seabreeze will struggle to get up against a WSW gradient wind. The high cloud might knock a degree or two off, though.

Eddy - I've had plenty of little trips around the hill smile

I go slowly these days - always millions of pedestrians walking on the road/track now, it's become a major exercise route.

Many pedestrians have forgotten that it is in fact a road with 2 way traffic on it. Some places are tight and minimal visibility. It's amazing that more pedestrians are not clobbered. Going quickly on the track on normal days is lunacy now.

Sunny day, nice breeze, about 16 degrees at the moment. smile

The Westerlies are still going, but no where not as strong as they have been for the past week or so. It's a strange looking day, with filtered sunlight and a light-blue-white sky because of the thin high cloud.

The long range forecast at Weather.com shows no rain icons and a continuation of the Westerlies out to 15 days, a good break after a wet Winter and early Spring. Downside is no storms. The models seam to be showing maked variability in temperatures, with busts of heat and significant cooldowns.

----------------

Here is the view at The Entrance yesterday just before solar noon:

Tuggerah Lake, The Entrance by Steve, on Flickr

About 21 degrees, dew point zero, a 10 knot Westerly and that Winter style deep blue sky.

EDIT: I note in passing that Weather.com is going for 28 today and 31 tomorrow for Sydney, a couple of degrees warmer that the official forecast.

28 and 31 would be my forecast as well for most sites, a degree or two warmer for Observatory Hill, the Airport and Penrith.

I agree with you there, WSW gradient makes it hard for the seabreeze to come through unless perhaps a weak SE breeze occurs on the coast. We're already at 25C but I think we will only max out at 27 or 28C at best.

Was there still no surf around Steve? It's difficult to see the waves over the sand in that pic.

We are still under NW breeze here, wind is probably gusting at about 30-40ks. I see Nobby's has had the odd gust upwards of 50ks.

Its only 24c here, I still think we will give 27c a nudge.

Definitely no surf here WR, you could launch boats of our beach at the moment.

Nice shot there Steve - brilliant. Did you walk in or just off the lake edge near the bridge?

I don't understand how it can be race week when there is good weather forecast for the whole weekend. Someone stuffed up.
Maybe we will get a storm on sunday afternoon.

Thank you Dave.

That picture was taken with my iPhone from the path along the lakeside, about 100 metres South of the Bridge. I cropped the bottom of the picture.

EDIT: temps are now around 27 across Sydney. OH has got to 27 for the first time tis season (since May 17 when 28.2). In fact, it's also the first 26.

I'm in Sydney today and can vouch for the heat. From parker and beanie at Oberon to jumpers in Canberra to feeling like a swim in Sydney. It is very dry here too. Those westerly winds are sucking the moisture out of the soil.

RG, I never, ever thought I would say this, but, "bring on" those soil (and crop) drying winds! 'We' (inlanders) need them right now!

It's been difficult working out how to deal with so much sunshine!! I have the aircon on at work and it's too damn hot to be in the sun grin

Tell you what - imagine the campers on Mt Panorama the other night when it was nasty windy and cold. Poor buggers smile

Not surprising Eddy, this time of year seems to be prone to periods of not much swell especially with such strong winds like we have been getting.

Managed to get to a nice top of 27C here today. We still have a warm westerly breeze but the wind is only moderate so it's actually a really nice afternoon.

Re Mt Pano- I didn't think people would already be camping there a few days ago. I guess you have to get in early to get a spot..
