Believe it or not, it's 28.8C here right now. Picture perfect afternoon with a light NWer. The seabreeze has been absent all day.

Reached 25C here, with very high diurnal range of 20C - don't mind that at all.
Also a remarkably even 24 hour graph, up until midday when they stopped taking the readings that is.

That is a pretty high diurnal range; there were some cold minimums this morning up that way.

A light easterly seabreeze has come through in the last 10 or 15 mins. It's dropped the temp back to 24.5C and humidity is at 33% now.

Moruya Ap hit a pretty impressive 29.5C today. Very warm station for its latitude I must say, compared to other locations on the east coast.

Reached about 22 here today, a very nice spring day and what we would normally expect at this time of year. The apple trees are flowering like mad and the bees are very happy. I was given a hive last year and I hope I will get some good honey soon - the red box (E. polyanthemos) is flowering now.

It was also a beautifully warm day here too, after quite a cold morning. It took quite a while to warm up.
The only thing that spoilt today was the hazard reduction burning to the east and north of me. It was inevitable that once the NE'er blew through, we would be engulfed with smoke.
The haze is still very thick outside and the stench inside the house is quite putrid, despite having all windows and doors closed all day.

Cloudless blue skies, light seabreezes from early afternoon and about 25-26 here after a cool early morning. For the first time in ages, there was a smell of smoke in the air. There's a lot of burning off and one or two small bushfiresx around Sydney.

On the lookout for the first jacarandas of the season. Unlike the last couple of years, it looks like they won't be early.

Looking forward to fine and 30 tomorrow. The week to come looks waem, with a return of heat on Friday. After that it looks less certain. This morning's GFS showed a cold spell for the coast towards the end of its run, with what might be the seasonal flip to maritime.

We're expecting 19C tomorrow. Still haven't cracked 20. Interestingly the forecast low is 6C, but a short time ago it was already 7C.

A surprisingly warm one here today, sitting on 30.4C with a moderate northerly wind. Albion Park hit a top of 31.0C but is down to about 28C with a NE seabreeze now.

Very warm up here too WR, with similar temps around most of Sydney. I didn't quite crack the 30 but got close at 29.2. It's down to 27.5 now. The best part was that the winds were more favourable today in blowing away the hazard reduction smoke.
Made it much more pleasant.

I could smell a little bit of smoke today in the northerly; maybe from those fires up your way. Allowing for our differences in elevation, we more or less got the same temp. Still above 30C here at my place as the NEer hasn't come through yet.

Edit, it hit 31.3C at Albion Park after my last post which is identical to the maximum here.

The sequence of max temps here over the last few days has gone like this:

Thursday: 16C (S winds)
Friday: 18C (SE-E winds)
Saturday: 26C (N/NE winds)
Sunday: 31C (N winds).

All with cool minima between 8-12C.

This resembles somewhere in southern Victoria during early summer. I'd be happy with a summer like that, with a weekly dose of showers or thunderstorms to keep the fire danger in check.

The NE'ly seems to be just blowing through now. A relatively smoke-free day today, but it was awful here at 2300 last night.

I wouldn't mind that either, but perhaps five degrees warmer for all of them. If we got hot days and storms regularly, I wouldn't mind a few days of cold southerly winds in summer.

Temp has just dropped below 30C here now. High cloud has moved over in the last couple of hours. Still a nice and warm afternoon though.

The sea breeze arrived here around 3:00PM, dropping the temperature from about 30 to 26.

A beautiful day today, affected a bit by smoke haze before the sea breeze arrived, but it wasn't too bad here.

Albion Park looks to have been a bit of a hotspot today, the only place to reach 31 degrees outside the Upper Western (among those available online on the BOM site). Western Sydney was not far behind, with most places reaching 30 point something. OH and the Airport were cut off at 29 by the sea breeze in the early afternoon.

Looks like the cool weather people get a go next weekend. That might be a foretaste of the flip to maritime, although GFS is now showing something like the current pattern continuing. As I recall, the 'flip' tended to happen around the end of exams.

Yeah it was quite hot compared to other areas here. Yesterday we were quite hot as well, reaching about 29C at my place.

It's only 20C at Bellambi Pt and 21C at Albion Park, but it's still a very balmy 26.5 degrees here with 22% humidity. Wind is a light NNWer.

It really does amaze me how much we can vary from the rest of the area. Glad I have a thermometer now to record these differences.

With the current SST pattern- warm east, cold west and south- I think the switch to maritime will be delayed this year. The atmosphere tries to equalise the balance by giving us SW changes. That said, today's temperatures at Green Cape show there's some cooler SSTs around the SE corner for the first time in an eternity, so cool southerly weather is possible.

The seabreeze is through and it's 21C now. I wish every summer day was like today: coolish morning with a hot day and then a cool seabreeze comes through at dusk. It really was a great summer's day. grin

To water, or not to water? Garden has reached the moment when a good drenching is required? Says showers tomorrow... what are the chances of >>25mm?

Probably a few mm at best tomorrow, though a morning storm would go down well. The lawns in my suburb are looking very sad; hard to believe it's a verdant green about 100 clicks to the west.

HB, I reckon a morning storm is very much on the cards.

Absolute stunning day here, no sign of any smoke whatsoever.
