Not sure why everyone is so surprised trump is winning. Admittedly i too thoughy hillary would get over the line but this is just a continuation of a growing trend. And it won't be the end. europe will be next.

No surprise here. Once he won PA that was it. Too much support from the Southern and Midwestern states.

Once we saw Ohio and Florida breaking more to trump than expected it was clear that it was going to be much, much closer. I will also add that leaders here in Australia need to be careful and notice that global politics is seeing a rise of the political far right) now how they deal with that, well that's their decision to make.

The average US voter is "stoopid" ... and half the voters are "more stoopider" than that.

... but I must admit, that I'm not at all sorry to see the US's most corrupt politician "Crooked Hillary" lose the election.

Hopefully Donald will f'it-up so badly that a viable third party will grow.

Warren.

PS, My son Geoffrey is about to visit Canada, next week. He told me that today the Canadian Immigration site is down. Maybe that wall Donald is building is designed to keep the Seppos' in ... and save Canada.

No surprise here..its basically just a vote against the establishment ...Trump has no idea and his bold claims of what he will do are highly unlikely to happen and his huge ego will get in the way of reason but most people have voted that its a better gamble than the same old [censored] and political cronyism ...something had to change..and I think it will..unfortunately it may get worse before it gets better..but that is a price that I am willing to pay to make some changes to the horribly corrupt system that dictates our lives.....

the fact he is an idiot(among other things) is irrelavent. They were not voting for him. They were voting against the insiduous erosion of their rights. Not to mention the Hillary was just as bad a choice (if not worse) than Trump. Trump is not the problem. He may become a problem but he is what people desperately hope is a solution

I know both candidates were bad...but I'm not sure if it really would have been a a good thing for America if the Democrats got in again.

The result isnt really all that unexpected. The democrat govt kept on whipping the working class, millions lost their houses, jobs but the real f-wits at Wallstreet who caused the mess walked away.
Then there is Hillary, Benghazi, email gate, calling Trump supporters halfwits, it all comes to one conclusion.
If you leave a sore untreated, there goes a limb or death & thats what happened.
What Trump does from now on will be interesting. No doubt stepping on a lot of toes including the TABOO topic.

The US Presidency is always about who has the biggest amount of funds in the pot to fund their campaign.

However, they are saying that Trump only spent half as much as Hillary, but made the most outlandish headlines with his mouth.

Maybe that is why the US is like a lunacy asylum, that it just didn't have any walls (as yet).

The US is starting to become like Gotham City. Just that Trump doesn't wear a bat-suit.

If the Democrats ran with Sanders the result would of been different. The fact that they shafted him in favour of Clinton spoke volumes about how the big end of town had infiltrated the once working class and union dominated Democrats. Sanders wanted the abolishment of the TPP, and was rather nationalistic in his own thinking, and this did not sit well with corporate America.

The weirdest part about this election is the fact that most of the unions were backing Trump and most of the corporates were on the Clinton bandwagon. A total reversal of historical voting trends. I don't think the unions would of been happy to align with him but his policy of reinvigorating local manufacturing and the implementation of tariffs on companies that have left America and want to bring their goods back into the country obviously resonated with them.

I also think the fact that Clinton was talking big about a possible tiff with Russia over Syria didn't help her cause. America is war weary, and a bit over the countless amounts of dollars being spent on issues that the populace does not see as any advantage to America and meanwhile domestically they are an economic shambles.

An American friend said to me that Obama will be remembered by the world as a fine leader, but by Americans he will be remembered as a lame duck.

I think a Trump win is good for freedom of choice and democracy. For too long we have been fed rubbish by a media devoid of ethics and impartiality, and by politicians who believe they are above the people they serve. Trump was smarter than the media gave him credit for and he used their bias against him as a tool to get his message out at a fraction of the cost that the Democrats incurred for their campaign. Inflammatory one liners got the attention of the media and then he delivered his message, all for free. He showed the media for the fools they are.
