No Air con? I could not live in Cairns if I did not have aircon - I dont use it during the day - but I need to be cool to sleep.

Yeah. I have it but the missus is a reptile and I am a terrible sleeper when it comes to noise. Won't have a choice soon though.

Well actually Ladies you do have a choice..I choose no air con and sometimes waking up grumpy after tossing and turning ..but at least I'm not stuck in a climate controlled bubble..that feels like a prison to me...same with the car...much prefer all the windows down instead....

I like the aircon once the humidity ramps up. Got it on tonight and loving the 20% difference

Have used aircon 3 times so far this season , not tonight though fan is nice enough:) much more pleasant in the car though, and doesn't send you deaf at 100km/hr

Air con in the car is a treat for us as it's the only power system capable of running it that we've got - well, unless we stupidly waste half a gallon of diesel an hour with the generator - never gonna happen.
What's funny is walking into super cooled shops in Cairns, loving the blast and hearing people complaining about how awful the contrast is when time to walk outside - sheesh, never happy.

Still green here...

Only used A/C a few times here during the day. On those 36-38c days. Never use it at night. I am still pulling a quilt over me in the mornings, instead of getting up an turning the ceiling fan off.

Things are really looking good for widespread thunderstorm activity starting Sunday and getting better as the week goes by. Hopefully it holds true.
CMC still have a low developing in the GOC on Thursday 15th and developing further over the weekend.
Time will tell.

The 'showers' seem to gradually be getting pushed back day by day as per status quo though I reckon Simmo. Good luck with a storm up there though, maybe you'll see something friggin amazing like this shot by Markus I'm sure you would have seen in the SA thread:

Thanks for the link RF, I had not seen that one yet. Some awesome photos around from those latest storms.
My sis snapped a pretty decent shot. The image quality is not very good as this is a copy off Facebook and it needs a crop but not bad. She might start storm chasing next

Cheers guys, I am hoping she does start storm chasing down there then I can experience storms vicariously through her. Lol

I am seriously over this hot, dry, dusty, boring weather. If this coming event is a flop I do not like the chances of getting enough rain this year to start things growing.

Also with only 3 weeks to go MAP still needs about 43mm to not be the driest year on record and Biboohra needs about 32mm.

I feel a flop coming on... I am feeling so pessimistic at the moment - but its not feeling right for rain at the moment.

We should see some shower activity from Sunday onwards for a couple of days DU. MT "may" drift south late next week enhancing rain activity.Models are swanning a low or TC out near the Solomon Islands and over in the west. Positive signs for the season ahead hopefully. grin

Well, there are one or 2 clouds in the sky today a least.

Looks to be a warm one in the city today 33.5c at the AP. 34.7c out here, humidity still very low somewhere around 25%. At least with the breeze and low humidity you get a nice cool down after jumping in the pool.

You 2 guys make me laugh...HF,always the optimist and DU, never happy with a forecast..

Lets hope HF is right and we get a bit of rain and a swing to a change of seasons..

I understand your pessimism though DU...for us many of the forecasts have been totally crap for a couple of years now..its getting a bit depressing looking at all these storm photo's and reading of great rainfall totals throughout QLD..

Bit wetter down this way Ron..we got at least 5 drops of rain...

It does look great down Townsville/mackay way and even a bit inland..looks like being some really good totals down that way...

wouldn't be surprised if we miss out again though..
