Thought I would post this special post pertaining to the Brisbane area forecast for these three days. Models haven't reached this far yet. But I see we may hit some instability next wed/ thurs, so that may mean it may well just be fine for these three days, given it looks like a trough scenario moving back and forth in between highs. Thoughts?

Xmas day
33 degrees.
Clear skies. Humid.

Boxing Day
Hot. 35 degrees.
Afternoon thunderstorm which will look promising then weaken into rain before it hits the city.

Christmas Day, strong upper trough approaching combining with a very moist NE flow, humid moderate NE wind, afternoon thunderstorms turning to rain areas late. Max 35C Min19C.
Boxing Day
Humid NNE winds, thundery rain areas mainly in the afternoon with moderate to heavy falls.
Probably more like my christmas wish list.

Current extended GFS looks like showers, with SE winds and an approaching upper level trough. Might be fun to see how much the forecast for christmas day changes.

Or depressing as each run gets hotter and drier....

Ok, I think i might have enough to go on now for a realistic plug for these three days. I think all the troughing action will Finnish by Friday the 23rd, leaving the 24th, 25th and 26th with boring lite trade winds. I don't think we will see any rain especially as we move into the 25th and 26th. Don't forget this is for the Brisbane area. So a bit of a bugger as always , I hope i am wrong, but i'm not often smile But models hinting at a general south-east to east flow for these days.

I think I've seen enough evidence on the models of the ridge now - the troughiness is all but gone! Temperatures somewhere around 28c with the chance of a shower or two around the place.

I think xmas will be unsettled... Just a guess anything past 190hrs is usually pretty jumpy.

Going by access - I'm going to say inland trough extending down from the gulf, bringing nw wind, stinking hot temp, and and a 2m easterly/ north was swell from the tropical low/s out to sea.
A weak sea breeze will temper things on the coast, inland 35 deg.
Sorry!!!

EC & GFS have a huge trough over NZ with a weak ridge up the coast. You know, same old crap.

Why would WZ have 20-29 with thunderstorms on one page and 20-28 with a possible shower on another??
