No work yet, more than likely won't move until we have it though. Probably go back to mechanics once I'm up there I reckon.

If not maybe I can pester my current job for 3 days of 3 days off poke.

Welcome back to NSW davidm. I remember you were on the central coast when I first started posting here. Guess you got sick of the Victorian weather?? grin

And Warren, awesome. A snow lover like yourself should be somewhere like that. A job in Bathurst or Lithgow would still be a pretty easy commute from Oberon.

Another miserable day here today but we've had some really handy rain so I don't mind so much now. Maybe we could fail to crack 20C again and 2 days of sub 20 would be pretty unusual in December I'd think.
But then... 31C tomorrow!! What a quick transition back to hot. So when this rain clears it'll all of a sudden get quite hot.

Good luck with the move Warren!

Yesterday and today have been beautiful. If we are going to have these coolish summer days, it has been nice that the past two have been accompanied by a decent rain event. It appears that most of the metro has had between 25 and 55 mm's, which will certainly green things up after such a long relatively dry spell.
Finally broke the 20 degree barrier this afternoon after about 40 hrs below 20.
It has been a pleasant break from the heat and the rain has been a bonus.
There's one thing about summer in Sydney. At one stage or another, it is always going to make someone happy.

It has warmed up very late here, now up to 22. Makes me wonder if a storm might be coming. Had 26mm here since 9am, very useful rain for the garden. I expect it will all dry out in a few days.

Just got to Granville on the train on my way home and there's brilliant sunshine.

Against the cloud it looks wonderful with all the different colours and my has it greened up quickly. I've throughly enjoyed this rain. So rejuvenating.

Hope this sunshine provides some grunt for some storms later. *Fingers & toes crossed*

Well, two lost Summer days in exchange for about 50 millimeters of rain. Some are pleased, some less so. I would have preferred to get it in one thunderstorm, but the weather will do what it does, pleasing some and making others grumpy.

Looks like a see saw weather pattern over the next couple of weeks, swinging between hot (but not very hot) with more cool spells.

Might be in nice sunset tonight in parts of Sydney (8:03PM) as clearer skies finally reach us.

P.S. Today in weather history: 2015, the Kurnell tornado and severe storms around Sydney.

P.P.S. Badgery's Creek AWS back up.

Steve,

The good thing about the past few days rain is it has been slow and steady which soaks into the soil much better than a 2 hr thunderstorm giving the same totals. That sort of rain just tends to run off.
For those of us who have lawns, gardens and vegie patches, this rain has been very beneficial. I can however understand why it might annoy some as being dismal and depressing.

We could maybe be in for a bit of thundery rain later on. The radar is showing that the echoes are drying up as they head across the ranges though.
There's still some recent lightning on the tracker, but if nothing else, we should still get a few more showers tonight I hope. Bathurst AP webcam is currently looking reasonably threatening and ominous.

There were quite a few dismal and depressed tourists around town these last couple of days.
Was on my way to lunch today and I saw lots of glum faces on one of those red explorer buses. All of them down below where you can't see bugger all.

Fair bit of variation on the models more than a week out. Just praying the weather is behaving itself on the 25th and 31st.

I have been in and induced coma of late but I note that Laurier's AWN site includes the Obs Hill data for 15/1/1939 in italics. I tend to use his site more than the BoM's as you can see more than one site together.

Just adding, I know I saw a 48.4 for the record maximum at Richmond. Not sure which of the Richmond sites though. This was in some book I found at the library at Macquarie University.

Wow it's hot and sunny this morning, already up to a humid 26C which is a shock to the system after being so cold. But yesterday's max will now jump to 26C, even though in reality it hardly reached 20C.

Quite happy with the past couple of days since we actually did get some decent rain in the end, and nice slow falls as well. Bushfire danger will tempered for a little while now so bring on that warm and dry January (hopefully not too dry).

Max yesterday was 27.4C here, recorded at 8:55am today. The 9am-9am system is definitely flawed in some ways.

Quite sticky out here last night (no surprise there)

A bit of a storm hit us while we were in town, not much showed up in the airport gauge though. Town might have had a bit more.

That Dubbo number is big!!

The rain out here loved by townsfolk and quite a few on the land. Graziers would be happy.

Anyone involved in harvests though (mainly west of here) wouldn't be as happy.

Yeah you definitely did need the rain out there Dave.

We have this really strange, dark low cloud that has come through just in the last little bit after being sunny not long ago. Almost looks like it could rain again.

Beautiful day here, blue skys with scattered cloud drifting in from the West, light Westerly breeze, cicadas, 29 degrees and fairly humid. Big contrast to the last couple of days.

The Satellite shows some cloud moving in from the West, but so far it seems to be mostly disolving as it reaches the Sydney Basin. It is reaching the Illawarra. Like many storms, it probably falls apart when it moves over lower ground.

The 9:00AM reset means that most of Sydney will record a maximum of around 25 for yesterday, even though yesterday was bleak, sunless, damp day with the 'mercury' hovering around 18-19 for most of the day and barely touching 21. Any reset time will throw up the odd strange result, 9:00 is probably a good choice - in these latitudes far enough from the usual times of diurnal maxima and minima.

Another one for the cool weather fans tomorrow.

One of the rare events where yesterdays maximum is today and today's minimum was yesterday.
