Hi all,

Nice and warm down in the southeast today, managed a top of 27.3 degrees at home, the city a bit warmer reaching 28.2! well above the forecast of 22, seems those northwesterlies were a bit stronger than was expected keeping the seabreeze at bay, didn't stop it coming in, it roared in off the derwent a bit after 3.30 creating blustery conditions outside! grin

Seems like we're in for some interesting weather in the next 48 hrs. smile

Warm tomorrow with forecast tops just under the big 30! fairly windy too, forecast NNW of 56 km/h around mid afternoon tomorrow, possible gusts in the 80-90 km/h range, then more widespread winds on the Wednesday with that deep low pressure system to our south, should see the SWW extended to the southeast of the state tomorrow afternoon.

Not much rain to be expected from this event with maybe 1mm if we're lucky.. frown

Current obs from home: 22.1 degrees, 1010.0 Hpa, southerly 19 km/h gusts- 32 km/h.

Now it's just the waiting game! poke

BOM forecast should be good today, probably an early max as the upper temps begin to cool off this afternoon. My forecast is a top of 28.

Yesterday was a bit of an anomaly.

Sure has been Dave, fair to say i was a bit off with my wind gust estimates of just 80-90 km/h haha! grin

Made it too 29.6 degrees at home, nice and warm up your way tonight by the looks of it, with it forecast to dip just to 19! shocked

Nah, was working on a fridge, days like today always bring in refrigeration breakdowns! poke

Very dry outside currently: 29.3 degrees, 23% humidity, baro- 991.8 Hpa and plummeting, WNW 32 km/h -gusting 51 km/h. smile

Yes 19 here is rare. I actually suspect that Hobart has more of that sort of temp than here.

We hit 33 yesterday, already 28 here now - THAT is very rare this time of day for here.

Refrig mechanic huh? that could keep you busy smile

And indeed extra load from heat always brings marginal machines undone.

You guys should get another couple of cool downs as those changes flick through between now & Christmas.

Strong cold change for dec on Sat night, -3 and -4 850TMPs and thickness down around 530 in the South, very light snow possible down around 600m. If its not too windy, a very late season frost possible in the midlands and central north.

Hey Dave 28 degrees just after 9am is pretty impressive! Some figures that you might find intresting is our max today was 18.6 at 12.00am and minimum of 10.6 at 5.50am, the temperature also dropped to 17.7 at 9.55pm yesterday evening as the winds swung around to an easterly (seabreeze), only lasted 40 minutes as the westerly overcome it and the temperature went back into the 20's.

Yep a fridgie, i know of one place down here that has a water mister on the condenser, the install was never sized correctly for the right outside ambient temp, so they turn the water misters on when it reaches a certain temp, i believe evaporatively cooled condensers are common on alot of supermarkets in central oz due to the low humidities and really high ambients, not so common down here as most places use heat reclaim to heat the stores. smile

Anyway back to the weather haha, looking cold hey snowies might see a flake or two around the peaks, i'm not holding my breath for any rain though, we've had none for the past 5 days frown

A bit more cooler now and still have a constant breeze: 13.4 degrees, Baro- 1004.9 Hpa (min of 989.6 Hpa just after midnight) WSW 44 km/h gusting 66 km/h. grin

Winds picking up again, westerly at 50 km/h, gusting 68 km/h, it's just relentless and so sustained it doesn't seem to go away! shocked

Our coldest night since the 9th of Nov, down to 1.5 last night. Was quite nippy around the house first thing.

BB - going from 18.6 at midnight to 10.6 at 5.50am is a big drop around Hobart. At Brighton - more believable being away from the expanse of the Derwent. Still an impressive drop.

Didn't know about the evaporative on the condensers, makes sense though. Those motors that cool so well sure do produce a lot of offsetting heat on the exterior of the machine.

Gee Dan 1.5 is a ripper of an effort smile

Hobart has near average temps coming this next week, warm one Monday (26) but otherwise 19/20 ish.

I note Hobart's night temp for December (so far) is almost identical to here.

Days though we are running about 7 degrees above Hobart.

not much rain forecast for you, we finally got rain last night and this morning. - been a while, best in months.

Quite warm up there then, rain will just kick the grass along again...

Looks like it'll be warming up come christmas.

Icy night in store on Sat night, could set a min that'll be hard to beat in future December's. This time last year we were in a week long run of 30 degree days.

Hi all

Weather has been good enough to have spent the best part of the week outside working around the yard. smile

A relatively dry week here with some fine sunny days.

With the cool change starting to come through, have had 8mm in the 2 hours since 9am. Getting some solid showers and temperature has been slowly but steadily dropping since earlier this morning.

20-30kts NW

Liking the forecast for later today and into tomorrow. http://www.bom.gov.au/tas/forecasts/west.shtml.
Might get a light dusting on the higher peaks here tonight if it comes off. Going to light the fire, and watch the weather deteriorate from the comfort of my chair. grin
