Not surprised, have you seen the impact of the shear on the system overnight. Hard to watch a decent cyclone get blown apart frown Some decent convection this morning however, so life in the system yet.

Same Pops hope house is still floating luckily not too strong winds yet but with Yvette around no doubt they will be strengthening as she approaches the coast.

Strong Westerlies and I suspect a decent swell but luckily not big tides for next few days so coastal erosion hopefully wont be so bad...
Fingers crossed.

I think Yvette will just be a wet fart as she slips on by. Be interesting to see what happens. All sorts of records broken today. Oh well. Missed a bit of fun but heavy rain can only be so much fun for a limited time. Bring on the gnarly lightning shows now.

Wonder if the winds will pack a punch as forecast. Nothing extreme but saying 60km hr. Seems to be in the sweet spot for Broome to get the wind. Probably end up being 20-30knts.

Interesting to see how much rain we get from this system to add to the already broken December rainfall total record.

At least its only a low coming through on Xmas day hopefully the celebrations will be not affected too much by the wind and rain

Merry Xmas everyone.

I hope everyone back home is safe. The 2- 4 knot winds must have been devastating as it crossed the coast. Thankfully all those people that cancelled their holidays because of the cyclone are safe also. Biggest laughs of the year.

....yeah, but still a big event rain-wise and what a start to the Wet!!!???

Was up there in late Oct, loved the red sand (first experience) - would have moreso loved to have seen an early storm! A great place is Broome.

A place called Wulungurru in western inland NT just copped 100mm+ in the past 2 hours, they are now up to 145mm since 9am, on top of 100mm in the past 2 days. I'd imagine they have turned into an inland sea

TC Yvette turned out to be a big fizzer and was only TC for a short time .
Was really hoping it would at least give the Pilbara some good rain.

Glad we had the low before hand to give us some decent rain.
