Awwww c'mon Eddy, that's a rubbish photo as usual, gee I wish you'd learn to take a decent photo!!! Get some lessons laugh cheers

As I expected, the storm band we had was just enough spots to put mud drops on the car. No lightning that I saw.

Glad the coast did a bit better. smile

Eddy - Great pictures again.

Greg - you don't need to subscribe to Crikey to sign up on Poll Bludger to comment, if you wish.

* * * * * *

It was a beautiful day in Sydney today, with warm but not hot tempertures*, a pleasant breeze and blue skies, an unusual combination for a day with S-SE winds. However, the winds have freshened in the last couple of hours and the dreaded marine layer is now rapidly taking over. You can see its progress on the visible Satpic, starting as a blob around at lunch time and spreading and thickening to engulf the coast from Narooma to Newcastle so far.

Looks hot for the Christmas period, away from the coast at least. GFS shows things getting wet for the New Year, complete with an ECL for the Sydney Test, but it's been jumping all over the place lately.

* although it got to 31-32 in the outer West.

Should've posted that second photo in the first place, I personally reckon it's a bit better than the first. But, they are still both exceptional photos Eddy.

Marine layer here now as well with a cold and cloudy easterly. Before that it was a beautiful warm and sunny day. About 25°C or so for most of it but it got up to 27°C.

It's a cold and breezy 15°C now. Woke up with a fog this morning and there will likely be one tomorrow morning as well.

Interesting picture Warren. Was that taken in the Penrith district?

There was thick drizzle in Chatswood a little while ago and by the looks of the wet roads and paths it had been drizzling for a while. Meanwhile, back here in Artarmon, the roads are dry and there are just a few light spiits. Radar shows light rain (white / light blue) over the North Shore, probably clinging to higher ground.

Self inflicted fog?

Thanks guys for the comments. Oz I feel your pain, has been imo an ordinary start to the storm season along the coast from anywhere south of Port Macquarie.

Hi Warren, what were your settings?

@Steve777 Horsely Park area looking towards St Mary's/Penrith yes!

Hi Eddy, I forgot to adjust settings so they were :
f/7.7
1/160sec
400 ISO
and Incandescent white balance

Not too bad actually the sky was really dark.

Familiar pattern here with beautiful blue skies and clouds hugging mt horrible. The easterlies just aren't strong enough to send cloud past the ranges. Hopefully we might get some storms on saturday to break the pattern.

Eddy - no they were rubbish too!!! Go and get a Box Brownie, even you shouldn't be able to stuff that up!!! bounce

Wazza - no worries mate, the photo still gets the message across very nicely. smile Clearly superior to Eddy poke

I love you guys that make the effort to post photos, not like lazy me blush

As Greg said, sunny and warm out here, the easterly feels actually quite pleasant this morning, keeping a bit of a lid on the heat. A bit of evaporative cooling actually making it over the lumpy hills. smile

Currently 23 heading for 26 ish. Quite a pleasant day.

Heading almost due east of here to the Central Coast cruddy weather tomorrow grin

It was overcast here early this morning, but the cloud has since steadily retreated to the NE. Now full sun overhead.

We often experience early morning low cloud under a E to NE airstream, which then retreats as the day warms and returns in the late evening. I guess one factor in the retreating cloud is the complex topography to our E and NE (Kanangra-Boyd Plateau and the high ridges above Jenolan Caves). When the winds are SE we can get decent showers or drizzle. Haven’t seen much in the way of SE’ers this season (unusual - maybe related to the negative AAO index).

Showing your age there DaveM!! I suppose you still have a Box Brownie? poke laugh

Surprisingly warm and humid despite the overcast skies.

Hey warren, I reckon there's not much noise in the pic to start with. Did you sharpen the image in editing?

Let alone my collection of Olympus OM's, I love those OM's and miss using them. Beautiful lenses they are, better than the kit lenses of today for sure.
