Another epic fizzaaaahhhhhh here; a few spots of rain and a muted chorus of rumbling. Time to drown my sorrows in eggnog and put the Jackson Hole webcam on the flatscreen for some real Christmas weather.

lol.

I've had an hour of steady rain here which is music to my ears while I make chicken rice paper rolls for Christmas Day tomorrow.
Currently a very pleasant 21.6 deg's.
Snowing nicely at Jackson Hole last time I checked this afternoon. Temp was -5.
Oh I wish!!!

I honestly would not doubt a 100mm reading a Muswellbrook, that storm was there for ages!!!

Yeah Homer but seriously not surprising. It is Christmas eve though.

It was -12, -13 at Jackson today according to Google. The snow was light and powdery, perfect for skiing. They had quite a good dump a couple of days ago at temps around -1 which was a lot more picturesque as the flakes were wetter and larger- a classic Snowies style fall.

Just had a massive close strike out of the blue. Scared the [censored] out of me!!

Yes WR, Christmas Eve or not, they have a job to do. They've been eating too much Christmas cake this afternoon me thinks.

HB, yeh, been watching the cams religiously the past few days. Some of the min temps have been obscene. It's nice to watch when the snow is falling.

There wasn't one.
Just the usual 4.20 forecast, although that changed at 4.26 pm and it wasn't much different.

Lots of lightning and thunder over the last hour or so, and some lovely constant moderate rain. What more could I want?

This system is weird, it's now collapsing on itself from the east like the Skase empire.

Back to the snow cams- I found another one yesterday from Wisconsin. Perfect for those times the polar vortex decides to visit:

Went to a Xmas Service this evening at Merrylands. The service was full so I was lucky enough to have been forced to stick outside in a outside area that could be enclosed with large glass windows/doors Around.

At around 7:15 light rain started to fall. I did notice the cloud begin to lower and it get progressively darker.

At 6:30 moderate to just off heavy rain had set in. Constant rumbles of thunder and some distant flangs.

A quick check of the radar was showing a constant re-emerging cell just south of Paramatta. It was fantastic.

Closer to 7 pm and I felt a rush of electricity go through me and an ensuing boom which scared the living life out of our collective selves. Which left the children crying.

That was quite the experience which left me shaking momentarily, haha.

The rain eased up to more light rain and I've since come home. The booms and rumbles are still going and it's still raining lightly.

With well over two hours of boom crash opera and rain, I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas eve. grin grin

Greystanes is reporting 21 mm whilst Merrylands is reporting around about 10ish. Due to the stationary nature of the storms it's hard to say where it would've been with where I was. I'd say more so somewhere in between poke

Yeah, a fair bit of flashing towards the NW (Fairfield direction) observed here. The thunder, though, has to compete with the local Canberra residents letting off Christmas crackers.

Tried to edit but couldn't. Sorry, it was prospect that was reading over 21 whilst greystanes was 18. Oops.

I didn't think it was going to slowly encroach into the basin the way it did but we also have people letting off crackers in the rain. Lol
