It's 30C and 42% RH in Bathurst at 12.00. Not normal weather for us, feels very humid.

At locations which have active stations, there's a bias-correction mechanism which offsets model forecast errors (roughly speaking, by looking at the average model bias over the last 30 days), but this doesn't work in places like Bulahdelah with no stations.

Interesting analogy, although the Cook station is a fair way from the coast.
Nullarbor Roadhouse would need a strong northerly to take out the seabreeze, and averages there would be much more moderate.
I spent a summer north of Esperance on a sheep station, and know how big those temperature gradients can be.
But Bulahdelah is intriguing and fascinating.
It seems to have a real microclimate, a real pocket protected from the seabreeze and a funneling effect between mountains to give it such intense heat.
EddyG we really do need a permanent weather station there.

Isolated storm cells developed on the Tablelands after midday but, like the other day, the cells seem to be barely moving. Towers are visible on the Western horizon from here, although the hazy atmosphere obscures them somewhat.

Warm, humid and filtered sunshine today. Looks like OH maxed at 28.6 a little while ago, with a max of 32.6 at Penrith (may go higher).

Very strange today, the winds are all over the place but are starting to become southerly/SEly along much of the coast. The winds have not exceeded 13km/h at Bellambi which is very odd for such a warm airmass and northerly winds. There was even a WNWly just earlier there but temp of only 23C. Usually in these setups you'd be expecting at least a moderate NEer by now.

And there the storms will stay I think today sadly. Would love a refresher to wash out the humidity here. Heading to the hunter later so so might see something up there.

Peter Konnecke, the storms are west of here in the Hunter and they are staying there so far they are very slow moving if you are under one so there would be some heavy drops of rain in them. There is one up north over the Barrington Tops I am watching,it might move south.

Only got to 33C today, a couple short of the forecast max of 35C as an easterly came in slightly early.
Upper Hunter got to 36C in Singleton and Scone though.
Tomorrow forecast is for 36C, will be interesting to see if it gets there, before the real heat for Thursday-Friday.

Same here Derek.
The NE 'er came in early and was quite gusty from about 9 am so only just cracked the 30 deg mark today. Very humid though.
Plenty of bubbling towers to the west all day but as has been mentioned previously, they were fairly stagnant so there was never a threat of any rain.

Not looking forward to the next few days. We have 36, 40, 39, 35 and 32 forecast for the next 5 days. I've conservatively taken a degree off the Richmond temps due to our altitude (180 mtrs asl)and proximity to the coast in relation to Richmond.
Not pleasant. Not much precip forecast either so the garden hose will be getting a workout on the vegie patch.

Been up at Pt Mac last few days, went for a few body surfs near lake cathie and the water was quite cool indeed, a bit of that upwelling ive recently learned about thanks to this place, a lot of beach fishermen up there knew quite a bit about it too! the first half of this storm season has been the most limp dick performance i can ever remember, sheer at 500 couldnt blow a christmas candle out most of the time, its been lacklustre to say the least, not to say parts of nsw havent done well. I took a detour on the way home from pt mac via wooton way and then booral rd to get a feel of the landscape thats so conducive to severe storm progression out west of bulahdelah and south, it was well worth it, im sure storm chasers have been out there, beautiful drive, too many trees of course, someone needs to get a chainsaw out there, but you can feel the terrain and what it does to help out the atmosphere dynamics. Had a feeling i should just park my ass in an inflatable dolphin in the colo river on the way home for any chance of big drops/electrical forks, but couldnt be bothered. As a side note, did anyone take the 4.50$ draw available in 2nd test, at least the weather is paying me back somehow, *tip, once youve got the good odds for a draw, play the situation wisely, know that captains will try for a result and break even on result at the right time whilst letting the draw ride!

Always well hydrated when relaxing while watering the vegie patch. *wink*.
In saying that, I went out about 2.30 to spray all the driveway, garden and paver weeds. Man....... it took me just under an hour and my body was like Niagara Falls when I came back inside. So humid and oppressive!! Then, the damn Melbourne weather ruined the rest of my afternoon with virtually no more cricket played.
Bloody Mexicans.

Didn't get to the forecast high of 28 - only reached 23C. Possibly due to early Cu and moderate Cb development. Looked like a big storm out Tuena way, but nothing here. It was a little sticky today but on the whole very pleasant picking cherries. Now 20C.

Would like to share Homer, but Sydney is too far. Also the Rosellas are cleaning them up pretty quickly.

Has certainly been a hot few day days here, and a couple more to come. House sitting for a friend at the moment who happens to have a pool, so all is good! Maybe some precipitation later this week.
Duane.
