Not wrong there about the good weather P, was a fairly sunny week down here too, with yesterday being the best with not a cloud in the sky, the same can't be said for today unfortunately! smirk

Front just moving through now down here in the southeast with light showers, although not enough to register in the gauge, reached 19.3 degrees early, now 13.9 with a westerly at 39 km/h gusts- 59 km/h,

Heating up next week by the looks of things especially leading into Christmas! grin

A fair few reports of snow falling around the highlands this evening. Been a windy, cold day with the odd shower. Hailed mid afternoon. Had a very early max temp after a mild night. Quite a bit a shower activity over the western half, should be a light dusting early tomorrow - but you'll need to be up early to see it!

Yep, really warming up on the run through Christmas, local forecast for Westbury is 25,25,27,29 up to Christmas. Hobart and parts of the west could be way into the 30's come Tuesday.

We reached a low of 2.1 on the weekend, was a bit windy and cloudy + the coldest air arrived a bit late. Still recovered to reach 20 yesterday despite a cold morning. Back down to 4.2 last night, but that could be the last of the cool air for a while.

29 degrees for Christmas Day!
Last year 36 or 38 degrees,
That's awsome two years running!

May set a new record.

Down at Port Arthur for the next 2 weeks so loving the camping life and the cray fishing.
First Cray for the season was around 2kg.

Very happy with that.

Correct it could well the two hottest consecutive Christmas days. Hobart city has never recorded 2 consec Christmas days over the 30 degree mark.In fact only 7 Christmas days have exceeded 30, last year was the hottest at 36.0, beating the old record of 34.3 recorded in 1945.

The closest Hobart has come to consecutive Christmas days over 30 was in 1940/41 when Christmas days were 31.9 and 28.9 respectively. The Christmas of 1948 also exceeded 30 which made it 3 30+ Christmas days in 9 years + they also had the 28.9 Christmas of 1941. So they got nice Christmas days as compensation for the war.

Until last year, the last 30+ Christmas day was 1989. The coldest ever Christmas day was 1984, maxed out at a rather cool 12.6.

Yes has been great weather the past couple days, it's a nice sunny 28.9 degrees at home currently with light winds, the city looks to have a sea breeze in already as it's nearly 7 degrees cooler! poke

Will be intresting to see how much rain we get leading into the new year with that approaching front and low? smile

Another lovely day with sun in most places but sea fog around the coast.

Nice fog at Eagle Hawk Neck, sunny before and after.

Looks like a warm damp week.

Hoping we get a storm or two!

Merry Christmas to all!

Seasons Greetings all , it's been along time smile
Just was saying to the Wife on Xmas day as the weird reverse fog rolled up the Derwent ." I think we are in for a Cyclone of sorts, I'll bet that Low crashes right into us ".
She laughed and took another swig of her local cider , anyways it feels like some NQ like humidity is here for a few days at least. Just maybe that Low won't slip South of Tassie ? Maybe it will do what the Northern Lows do and continue it's path across feeding off the warm waters . And also the heat sucking down from SA and Vic . I know it's not called a Cyclone this Far South but what would it be called if this scenario comes off ?

Good to see you back MH2O! smile

You're not wrong about the humidity, was working inside a store in Moonah today, stepped outside and thought i was in Darwin.. albeit it was 10 degrees cooler and there were no palm trees! grin

The humidity sat around 90% most of the day at home.

Yeah that low pressure system sure looked impressive early yesterday morning, usually they're called 'intense deep low pressure systems', however in april of 2008 an ex tropical Cyclone came pretty close to tassie, was a extremely wild night from memory!!

Have a read of this old thread!
http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthrea..._03_#Post705369 wink

Been more milder the past couple days with very little wind, max for Christmas day was 33.8 degrees, today we reached a top of 21.6 degrees, the last 3 days we received 27.2mm, lets just hope we get a storm to finish off the last couple days of the year! poke

Current obs from home, 17.9 degrees, 92% Humidity, 999.8 hPa and falling slowly, wind SSE 7 km/h.

Hey SF! what was your total for the past three days down on the peninsula? smile

A few storms in the area between 2am and 4am, rain was very heavy at times, racked up 24mm which pushes the month past 100mm. Had 55mm since Christmas.
