Sorry Warwick, got sidetracked with Melbourne. Very slow moving line; be great if it gets here. Cheers, hope you get some!

Yes Mad, line is slow and appears to be weakening. Not sure if it will make it all the way your way.
Indeed good drops in the area PlumbBob. Not so much at my house, but we still have at least 5 days worth of chances.

I've been watching the NWP models for a few days and seems they are now converging on some rain in our time ahead to Boxing Day. A few days ago models were way apart with GFS suggesting high side. GFS still on high side but all models suggest a strong south to north variation in rain totals. Northern NSW looks to be winning in odds.
Nice seeing storms today. Hope all that need rain get it.

13.8mm in the 24hrs to 9am, coming from the midnight storm and local morning thundery shower activity.

Mild though humid, and overcast today. Afternoon/evening rain, tending thundery at times, has brought 12.4mm since 9am. Got briefly interesting though with this CG activity under 1-2kms of my house.

Very heavy rain associated with the storms around Grafton today where temps were able to get into the low 30s. Pillar Valley had 85.2mm in an hour (5:10-6:10pm) and Minnie Water had 83.0mm in an hour (6:05-7:05pm).

Coffs Harbour had only received 9mm for the month before today, but has picked up a handy 17mm since 9am. So at least it won't be a record dry December there (22mm in 1938).

Just back in from viewing xmas lights up at Coomera, M1 from Smith St to South of Nerang was absolutely pelting down with wipers on flat out. Got to Mudgee show grounds and bone dry.
Waiting to see if it moves a little further SW to here, can feel the cooling breeze coming in the office window.

Funnily enough, seating here now I recall coming home last year from the same display at Coomera and getting hammered on the way home by a fierce storm cell.
Gee that breeze is noice now, rain is close but not getting any closer.
Timbuck, PlumbBob, you guys getting any of this??

Unbelievable this. Carrara has picked up 39mm of rain to 10pm most likely over 50mm now and yet just 5kms away here in Main Beach not a drop.

Sure did. If you look at the radar history it was quite interesting as we....highland park/ Nerang/Carrara had a cell build up and park on us for a while before the rest of it got here.
I was weird as I had looked and mum sent me a test saying how lovely it was in kyogle as they got a nice cool down and 25mm and more to come. My reply was I hope we get the dregs if it can get over the range.....next minute it was bucketing down all gutter overflowing in no time.
I do wish it was parked on Warwick , hopefully you get your turn today 😎👍👌

Annoying to forecast today with the cloudband around but with latest EC still adamant on reasonable instability & convective precip developing in the south and west... and possibly for some parts of coastal SE QLD as well.

Positively tilted upper trough oriented WNW-ESE lies to our west and south with low level wind convergence to our south and west.

Either way, slow-movers again with the weak shear which might produce some reasonable falls for some places but the type of storms I find boring personally.

Good commentary Warwick Eye2Sky. Wonderful 28mm here in Glennie Heights (North Warwick) overnight. The Rain Gods have kicked in with this generous token hopefully with the prospect of a repeat later today. The localised nature of these falls over very short distances is evident from what you received compared to here. Very much hit and miss with tight boundaries around the heavier stuff. The rapid cooling during and following the fall greatly appreciated - as good as the rain itself. Cheers.

2mm after my post earlier, freshened the place up. Just wish one of those lumpy clouds parks itself over us!

We scored 4.0mm by the time I left home this morning at 4:45am. Was just about done by then by the looks. Lovely smelling the wet stuff again after a few dry weeks. Hopefully we're lucky enough to get under something this afternoon, but if not, at least I'll feel better about mowing the lawn.
