This is the SEQLD/NENSW Day to Day weather thread for 2017. Just use it like we did with the previous one. The previous day to day weather thread ran from March 2005 to December 2016 and reached 797 pages (almost 16,000 replies and nearly 36,000,000 views!). Splitting the Day to Day thread into years should make finding information about past weather more easy, and gives more organisation to the general weather that occurs in our region outside of the weather event threads. Quite a bit of good discussion about historical weather, weather questions / queries, along with past, present and future weather patterns usually occurs in these Day to Day threads too and shouldn't be lost in amongst the many posts. The following may help with finding information in the previous Day to Day thread that existed from March 2005 to December 2016. If set to the default setting of 20 posts per page, this is the yearly distribution of posts in the previous Day to Day thread: 2005 - Pages 1 to 7 2006 - Pages 7 to 22 2007 - Pages 22 to 60 2008 - Pages 60 to 117 2009 - Pages 117 to 173 2010 - Pages 173 to 230 2011 - Pages 230 to 353 2012 - Pages 353 to 443 2013 - Pages 443 to 505 2014 - Pages 505 to 591 2015 - Pages 591 to 682 2016 - Pages 682 to 797 And the seasonal distribution of posts in the previous Day to Day thread: Autumn 2005 - Pages 1 to 3 Winter 2005 - Pages 3 to 6 Spring 2005 - Pages 6 to 7 Summer 2005/06 - Page 7 Autumn 2006 - Pages 7 to 15 Winter 2006 - Pages 15 to 18 Spring 2006 - Pages 19 to 21 Summer 2006/07 - Pages 21 to 25 Autumn 2007 - Pages 25 to 34 Winter 2007 - Pages 34 to 49 Spring 2007 - Pages 49 to 59 Summer 2007/08 - Pages 59 to 70 Autumn 2008 - Pages 70 to 85 Winter 2008 - Pages 85 to 99 Spring 2008 - Pages 99 to 114 Summer 2008/09 - Pages 114 to 126 Autumn 2009 - Pages 126 to 136 Winter 2009 - Pages 136 to 155 Spring 2009 - Pages 155 to 171 Summer 2009/10 - Pages 171 to 180 Autumn 2010 - Pages 180 to 185 Winter 2010 - Pages 185 to 204 Spring 2010 - Pages 204 to 224 Summer 2010/11 - Pages 224 to 251 Autumn 2011 - Pages 251 to 282 Winter 2011 - Pages 282 to 300 Spring 2011 - Pages 300 to 337 Summer 2011/12 - Pages 337 to 374 Autumn 2012 - Pages 375 to 393 Winter 2012 - Pages 393 to 418 Spring 2012 - Pages 418 to 441 Summer 2012/13 - Pages 441 to 453 Autumn 2013 - Pages 453 to 465 Winter 2013 - Pages 465 to 482 Spring 2013 - Pages 482 to 503 Summer 2013/14 - Pages 503 to 528 Autumn 2014 - Pages 528 to 548 Winter 2014 - Pages 548 to 567 Spring 2014 - Pages 567 to 587 Summer 2014/15 - Pages 587 to 608 Autumn 2015 - Pages 608 to 624 Winter 2015 - Pages 624 to 647 Spring 2015 - Pages 647 to 665 Summer 2015/16 - Pages 665 to 703 Autumn 2016 - Pages 703 to 737 Winter 2016 - Pages 737 to 763 Spring & December 2016 - Pages 763 to 797 Happy New Year! 2017's Monthly distribution of pages (if set to default setting of 20 posts per page)

Thanks Seabreeze, you have done an awesome job keeping everything running smoothly as a Mod. And thank you for indexing the past events from the previous thread for future references. That is a lot of work and much appreciated.
Cheers Col

It's 7:50 here in sunnybank, 34mm through the gauge so far and plenty of rain still on the way. This is a drought breaker for the city, grass will be green growing for a month and half Temperature outside has dropped to 23C

Happy new year everyone and thanks SB. NAEFS has been going for another spell of hotter than normal conditions developing across far eastern Australia from around mid to late next week (after the relatively cooler conditions this week) - output for the day 7 to 14 forecast period from now:

Thanks Ken, make sure the next time you put up map in the 7-14 day period make sure it's about being wetter than normal!
Also does anyone those who know WATL rainfall maps on the BOM are the time period from between Midnight to midnight? or any other time period.

Haha I'll try Squeako. The 24hr time periods for the WATL maps are still 12z til 12z (from 10pm the previous day to 10pm of the forecast day EST) due to the fact that some of the older models only used to have 6hr forecast time steps. It's been changed to 15z to 15z recently but only for certain registered user and internal products. It's meant to be done for the public WATL webpage as well but the other products have taken priority so far.

If only the upper low up north would track several hundred kilometres to the south.

Looks like the Boonah weathercam is back-focusing on a cobweb on the lens Hopefully one of the BSCH guys can contact them, it is a great cam for viewing systems coming off the ranges.

GFS has had a minor upper trough passing through for today/tomorrow for a while, and now the bom forecast has suddenly upgraded to showers/windy 8-20mm for Saturday on the coast. I think my few square meters of dirt could use a bit more rain yet, surface looks good, but was still able to find dry stuff not too far beneath the surface.

I was wondering why tomorrows BOM forecast was so optimistic. Didn't see anything special on their maps.

The 7 day forecast looks maybe interesting. The strong trade wind surge through the tropical Pacific may get deflected into a NE wind on the coast, and combined with ridging in the cora sea direct low pressure onto the coast. GFS has a series of low pressure systems crossing the tropical coast and most of the rain to the north. Access has a North south trough just off the coast with good SEQ rains but nothing extreme, and EC has a low pop up well to the east of us that spoils the party.
The models have been throwing up a lot of interesting NE wind scenarios for a few weeks, and they haven't really come off yet. Not sure if the pattern is supportive of such a scenario but we haven't yet been lucky enough for the ingredients to come together, or whether the pattern is only supportive of the models predicting such stuff in the longer range without actually delivering.

Looks like a small area of low pressure heading into the MNC right now - check out the animation: http://www.weatherzone.com.au/radar/nsw/graftonLikely to see some good falls to its south if that is the case, but likely to zip through pretty quick. We're up to around 40mm this event now, much needed rain

Another 15mm of lovely heavy tropical rain here over night, with a couple of beefy showers just after sunrise. My grass is finally green!

Hi Ken It looks like the weather is miserable over there and you must be having a terrible time. I hope things improve and the sun can melt all that horrible snow away so you can enjoy the sights of New York. Looks AWESOME. Beautiful scenery and that crisp air would be right up there for your liking. I suppose you wont want to come home. Not too hot here in SEQ but a little humid at times. A bit of a TL up North. Thanks for posting. It would just be terrific if Brisbane was like that in Winter. Cheers
