Wait 'til Saturday if you think it is unpleasant now wink That is of course if the forecast pans out.

The heat index maxed at 49.4 degs at home just prior to midday today.

Ponders quickly migrating somewhere nice. Antartica?

I don't know what it got to today. Poor son, welding, quit work early and came home. Can't blame him. Boss says he can catch it up. It was 40 on the veranda at roughly 2pm.

32 this morning , dropped to about 30 now with the seabreeze. Doubtful of 34 now unless NE wind drops off or turns to N later this afternoon.

It is 41 on my veranda now. Bloody hot but it is nowhere near as humid so a bit more bearable.

Storm has come up just on the coast. Looks like it will just skirt us but will give a nice drink just to the north.

We spent the past couple of days in Rocky /Yeppoon and could feel the difference in humidity away from the coast. I hadn't been to Yeppoon in over 20 years and was amazed at the hillside development. Still one of the most picturesque coastal towns in Qld though and right up there with the Whitsundays.

Absolute cracker day there yesterday .

Looks like we will miss out on the best of the rain at home as it passes offshore. January is certainly a dry months so far and likely to remain so for this region with just 56mm falling at home. Similar in Bundy also with 56.4mm to date against a long term average of 176mm.

Although the temp wasn't high yesterday I thought it was humid in Yeppoon.

Can someone answer this. Would SE winds or E winds or anything wind without a Northerly in it, be cooler?

Feels like when we get a NE seabreeze it is warmer than a SE or E breeze ./

Yesterday we had NE winds blowing but it didn't lower the feels like temperature. Wheras it feels cooler when we get E or ESE winds.

Still looks like no rain in sight at all. Even others are now commenting on how El Nino like the conditions are. Dry and hot.

This will be an above average month for rain for us here, but we were just very lucky to get under an on shore flow.

I've never appreciated cloud cover and SE winds until today. Much better outside.

Tomorrow now cloudy too.

Depends on water temps and how far over water the air is coming from Vinnie. Today they are coming from waters much cooler down south than yesterday when they were coming in over much warmer waters to your north.

Ok thanks.

Lawns in our street are starting to not look as green. Our back lawn is half green , half brown with big patches. All it takes is 10-20mm and it will green up again. Doesn't seem to green up much with the pop up sprinklers. Will green up with rainwater tank water connected to the clip on sprinkler but the rainwater pump has stopped working !

Yesterday had the fan on 1 and could not feel it so had to bump it to 2. Today we have some fans off and most on just 1.

Washing wouldn't get dry today, windy but kept slightly spitting for a few seconds and stopping and humidity seemed still high even though it wasn't as bad as yesterday.

Both models I'm looking at have SE or E winds right up to next Monday.

Wonder when we are going to see heavy rain in Central Qld ? Better not be in winter .

So if we don't see rain like last year will that mean it will stay hot into April and May again ?

Who knows Vinnie. It might be cool and overcast with bugger all rain like today for example.

Looks like SE winds right up to next Tuesday at least and Rocky's temps not so bad with only one day of 35. Yeppoon downgraded to 30.

Pleasant but boring weather lol.

30 deg with 54 pc humidity , just nice.

GFS when I looked earlier had use on SE winds now up to Wednesday and rain from next Monday or Tuesday... we will see if it is correct !

Not necessarily. It could just slowly get cooler.

I remember last year with El Nino we hit mid 30's in late May . 34 I think. Was the last week of May pretty sure and then throughout winter it kept getting humid and the nights seemed warmer than average.

I know it never gets icy cold here but felt like we had a warmer than normal winter after the last summer. Summers before it has stayed coolish until September.

Dunno how people further north get used to high humidity and dew points say 24 deg to 25 deg all the time .

19 deg dew point and 54 percent humidity. I still am sweating when outside but nowhere near as much as last week .
