Yep and as usual the next day the totals are downgraded and temps increased.

Every year Yeppoon has had 1000mm at least . We've been saved by a couple of 2 day massive downpours.

Be interesting to see if this is the first "dry " year .

It's so warm at night I swear the golden canes are growing quick.

Every day an old frond drops off.

Just got the rainwater tank pump fixed, 10 year old pump and it needed a new capacitor. So can just plug the sprinkler to the tap connected to the pump connected to the tank.

Pain in the butt is the sand spear bore pump has decided to stop working now so the pop up sprinklers aren't working.

Hardly any breeze in Yeppoon today very light winds. Not as comfortable almost reminds me of Rocky, except for the humidity...

Weather pattern is groundhog day lol 30 deg every day with E/SE winds... wonder how much rain or lack thereof we will see in February...

All it will take is a massive downpour in March to bring us back from the deficit.

Maybe I'm reading the graph wrong but it looks like a 50 percent chance of above median rainfall .

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/outlooks/#/rainfall/median/seasonal/0

So in other words 50 50 chance.

Some good falls, especially Emerald south last night.

Up to 100mm in an isolated spot.

Even the desert Callide Valley got a tiny bit.

Some rain would be nice. Proper rain. Even a bit of a flood here.

Dams still haven't got anything into them. What bit of green grass I had is rapidly becoming brown and crunchy.

Says it is just 30 with 56 percent humidity it feels quite sticky the moment I go outside.

Bit of a shower this morning. Feeling like Feb will be quite dry, more than this month. Hopefully a big downpour in April or March makes up for this.

No cyclones please .

Not going to get anything while there is a potential cyclone over in WA.

I think for most of coastal central Qld, January is going to be below average rainfall.

I think we have now been in this dry pattern for four years.

Really ? I've been here 5 years, most years have been average to above average rain even though most has fallen in a short time.
2010 - 1850mm
Annual total for 2011 = 1146.6 mm
Annual total for 2012 = 987.8 mm
2013 just over 1000mm
Annual total for 2014 = 1440.8 mm
Annual total for 2015 = 1017.4 mm
Annual total for 2016 = 1091.0 mm

BOM says we get 995mm a year so we have had a run of good years...

Looks like 2004 was just over 600mm so hasn't been that dry for 13 years !

Maybe we are in for a drier year... depends on if we get something to boost the total as if last year we didn't get that rain we would be in 2 years of dry on the coast.

Seems like we've had endless wet summers on the coast or wet years overall.
---

Question . Can Rocky's water supply The Fitzroy River run low and then cause water shortages for Rocky or is that not possible due to the size?

Woke up at 3am and there was a very heavy shower, but just 2.5mm fell and in 2 mins or so it was gone.

Quite amazing how Mackay is getting, rain, followed by more rain, followed by more rain. While there are whispers of drought now in the Callide Valley.
