Even closer this time Simmo, you must be pulling your hair out like us. But with slightly less sweat.

Simmo must be able to smell that juicy rain it's that close.

Wouldn't it be nice for these cells to merge and make it over the ranges? Need to get you in my rear view mirror RF

My money is on the Cairns forcefield.... Beats the possibility of rain bands from the north, west and south every time 😉 Sorry, but the cynic in me abounds given recent history.

I can't beleive how anyone remembers to grab the torch and go out to the gauge at midnight every night.

Also, it makes your figures non comparable with anyone else.

Hahaha guys, the radar sure has been killing me today. Luckily I was working and didn't get to look much. Then when I saw that big ass cell near Walkamin on the drive home on my break, that was a real killer, just sitting there.

Guess what.... it is finally starting to rain. I really hope all thats on the radar makes it. Would love a wet night.

Gave my plants a really good soaking this evening, and now it's been raining for 15 minutes so far, almost what I'd call heavy rain.

Of course SkyMuster has stopped, and so has our $78 a year "free" TV.

This rain is so nice, I might go to bed early. grin

You're right there. And I have to pay someone to do it frown

It's been raining steadily for over an hour, will have to go look at the gauge - but I might get wet! I wonder if we've had more than 40mm grin

Just had a few heavy showers. So nice! Radar looks good to the north, fingers crossed for everyone.

The official readings for 2016 here are 2053mm, just 37mm under the average.
Had 102mm at home for December.

Just braved the rain.

The old green ornament had overflowed.
My new ground level 125mm nylex showed 62mm, after I wiped the mud off the sides.

Tipped it out. Was I being too hopeful? As I type now, it's eased right off....oh well....

Nice total C@28. Can't wait to get a total that high. What did you end up with for 2016?

Steady soaking rain here, just hit 9mm. Should get to double figures soon. I am really happy to start off with the lighter stuff as there is nothing really to hold the top soil in place if it rained real heavy.

You should have seen yhe topsoil washing down the road in that storm near Tolga the other day Simmo

Had maybe 15mins of light rain here. One faint rumble I think.

Nice start to the year 28.

Seems strange to be getting more rain than you Simmo. 9mm isn't very much frown
Just added up 2016 and it comes to 669, but could be a few millimetres either way since I'm not a purist when it comes to measuring on time.

Yes RF, a very nice start to the new year.

And it's still raining. My curiosity will get the better of me and I'll have to trudge outside with the torch before I go to bed.

Whilst I agree that Low Isles is in no way a true representation of our real rain fall or weather in general where would you suggest putting an official recording station??
We all know just how much it can vary just by being up against a hill or out on the flat by a few km...
I would guess that there could be over a 1m difference between a gauge at the Cow Bay Beach and one up on Maple rd .
And what difference between say PK'S and Cow Bay Pub ?

Anyway another classic fail with the storms/showers stalling on the ranges... 1mm

Cheers
