Issued at 12:33 pm Monday, 2 January 2017.
TROPICAL LOW AND ACTIVE MONSOON CAUSING HEAVY RAINFALL AND DAMAGING WINDS
WEATHER SITUATION:
A tropical low 999hPa located about 50km west of Katherine, is combining with an active monsoon to produce heavy rain areas, squally showers and thunderstorms.
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected over the Daly, Gregory, western Carpentaria, western Arnhem and Tiwi Districts.
Locations which may be affected include Darwin, Katherine, Palmerston, Jabiru, Wadeye, Wurrumiyanga, Nauiyu, Timber Creek and Kalkarindji.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS up to 90 km/h are possible over southwest Daly, northern Arnhem and Gregory Districts.
Locations which may be affected include Wadeye, Kalkarindji, Timber Creek, Daguragu, Palumpa, Top Springs, Nhulunbuy, Jabiru, Maningrida and Alyangula.
24 hour rainfall totals between 100 and 150 mm have been recorded over western Top End and Gregory District.

Yeah large totals across most parts. A couple other notable totals include Channel Point with 209mm and Labelle with 275mm.

WEATHER SITUATION:
A Tropical Low 1004hPa located near Katherine is expected to track westwards across the base of the Top End during Tuesday and Wednesday. The low is combining with an active monsoon to produce squally showers and thunderstorms.
DAMAGING WINDS with peak gusts of around 90km/h are forecast for coastal areas of the northern Daly, Tiwi and northern Arnhem forecast districts.
HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected over the Daly, Tiwi, Arnhem, Gregory and northern Carpentaria Districts.
Widespread 24 hour rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm are expected with isolated heavier falls.
Locations which may be affected include Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Jabiru, Maningrida, Wadeye, Wurrumiyanga and Nauiyu.
Widespread falls in excess of 100mm have been recorded across the Top End with 275mm recorded at Labelle and 209mm at Channel Point
