Hovering now at 40.2C officially.
Still showing a "feels like" temp of 2C hotter at 42.2C!
Car thermometer peaked at 43C at Oakhampton, going into Maitland about 10 minutes ago.

Wazza - hang in there mate - still moving to Oberon?

A pretty big cell approaching Cudal (part of that Parkes one Homer mentioned) heading roughly this way - hope we get a shower out of it.

We are looking for a cheap house out there too.

BoM has downgraded the min to 25C now. I'm guessing the record won't be broken as the 9am temp was 25C?
We also have a 'medium' chance of showers/storms from late morning.

I was watching the bridge and it was getting in a fair way, and not just at ground level. The airport was also warm under a supposed NEly

The sea breeze has been blowing hard on the bridge all day. (I can see it from the office). Very occasionally it *looks* like the wind has swung to the north but the flags inevitably point to the west again. I suspect the hot air is being allowed to mix down a bit more than you would normally get in this situation where the sea breeze undercuts the gradient offshore wind.

Wollongong included in a severe thunderstorm warning but forecast indicates clear.

Likewise, Sydney's forecast indicates clear but we have storms to our west. The forecast isn't even holding for clear at the very least since we're under thickening CU. Will be interesting to see whether we get any rain to wash out the forecast. grin

Currently at 35C here, with a warm NE breeze, and 50% cloud cover, with a thickening out to the west.

If that small storm cell out near Jenolan Caves holds together we may see some action in a couple of hours or so. I won't be holding my breathe.

Hideous 26C minimum tonight (downgraded from 27).
Since we get the southerly change 2 hours or more later than western Sydney, tomorrow is not looking like any reprieve until the evening.

Top 32 hottest months for Sydney.
Does not include today.
Not including Camden and Campbelltown which have been annexed but I haven't yet worked out how to use their Illawarra site number in Metro stats.
I haven't checked for missing data in the months either.

The NNE thrust of the lightish sea breeze, some swell, and a great sandbank, made for awesome bodysurfing on the low tide at South East facing Wanda Beach late today (a few km north of Cronulla CBD). Lifeguards kept the beach open later than normal and it was safe enough in the twilight water after they packed up for today. A couple of heavy spots of rain on the drive north home into the oppressive 33C night heat we have now outside.

A SSW wind change quickly just swept though inland suburbs with Obs Hill with a SSW wind of 20kmph at 9:40pm.

You can see it on the wind and rain radars arcing thru away from the Sydney Metro coast

Now Obs Hill says wind has gone back to the E and the temp is up again to 32.6 at 9:50pm
