Yeah, except every green space in every town + all the roads are covered in folks from the Big Island towing around a very small, cramped and overly expensive 'hotel' room - so they can park on the previously mentioned green space every evening and stare at each other whilst watching the sunset (+avoiding the 50 degree temps elsewhere).

laugh poke

Nah no one parked on my verge - not enough room and a huge gutter to contend with. But they are just so slow on the road and I don't see the point of Caravaning, unless your getting well off the beaten track in central australia etc.

I see them all parked around the oval of an evening, looking at each other while sitting on a camp chair wondering what the hell to do in Westbury on a cool summers evening....

It's astonishing how many are around now. My dad and his dad loved caravanning years ago.

Fiona & I lived in one with a new born baby for 9 months or so in my mother in law's back yard when we were not long married.

Send the buggers up to Liffey for a walk. smile

Evening viewers ,
Firstly got to say love the Nomads , I especially love the ones with their fit over prescription sunglasses ( read blinkers ). Travelling down the highway at 80 kmr and looking through the reading section of their bifocals instead of the distance part of the spectacle lens. Even better if it's being towed by a gold or silver Camry smile At least you can raise them on the UHF as most have Bill and Doris CH UHF 18 on the back of the van , had to radio one lovely old couple on the Bruce Hwy outside Mackay one year as they had forgotten to roll up their external awning !
Anyway's back to weather here , just a windy night and not a drop of rain and a mild day. That's twice now our friends at the Bureau have forecast up to 5 mm with no result this week so far. They have a chance to redeem themselves come Friday with 5 to 15 mm meant to fall Friday smile Just read about about the extreme UV's in Brisbane this season , well above previous years with the latest heatwaves . I'm pretty sure in Hobart this Summer it's been above as well as I noticed so many runs of levels of Extreme 13 and sometimes on those particular days going above that. So cover up everyone it's zappy out there.

You think 4 degrees on Sunday morning was cold, I got last night to a temp of 21 and a dew point of 2, clear skies and no wind...well did the temp drop like a stone once the sun went down. Dipped to a brisk 2.7 at first light this morning.

Damp this morning. 10-25mm appears to be the damage, bit more over near St Helens. Possibly looking at upwards of 75mm this morning, starting to clear to the east already. It did come down hard for a while around 5am.

A few places down the east coast and along the tiers had 25-50mm.

Hobart currently 11 or 12 degrees - I'm drooling grin

Hobart now about 50mm mtd - that's good compared to the horror run of dry for so long. About 40mm more than us so far although we will be wet today as well - finally smile

Yes sounds like the eastern bit is going to be very damp for a change. Gray once more leading the charge smile

Afternoon all,

Got to love the banter about the grey nomads! grin

Some decent falls about the state yesterday and decent winds up the northeast- Eddystone point had gusts between 100-113 km/h for 3 hours, with a average wind speed of 91 km/h at one stage, very unusual to have such sustained winds for that station, especially southerly winds! shocked

In the past 48hrs to 9 this morning we received 25.6mm, bringing the MTD total to 61.8mm, that's way above the january average out here which is 35.8mm, the figures certainly reflect on paddocks around here which still have a green tinge. poke

Has been a partly cloudy and breezy day down here in the south, top of 21.5 degrees and winds reaching 52 km/h, warming up tomorrow, top of 28 expected and 30 for Monday, then windy on Tuesday.

Current Obs: 20.3 degrees, 1009.7 hPA, WSW 23 km/h -gusts 34 km/h smile

Hi all , well what a fantastic effort by Mother Nature with the rainfall . Very thankful indeed smile made a very soggy day at work but enjoyed every drop. Played golf at Rosny last evening after work and I can't remember the greens and fairways being in such a lush green state for many a year smile

Geez, that is hot for you P, those northerlies keeping the temp up, compared to a westerly! should be a bit cooler tomorrow! smile

Made it to 31.5 degrees, southerly gusted up to 40 km/h when it came in about 4.00pm, no rain to speak of... surprise surprise haha

Going to be a windy day across the state tomorrow, gusts to about 80-85 km/h, so not to bad, just a tad cooler grin

Brighton Obs: 28.7 degrees, 997.3 hPa, SSW 17 km/h- gusts 28 km/h

Yeah another hot one hanging around 30 c here in the suburbs most of the day. Still a putrid 24 c out there and not one breath of wind , thank god for the air con.
It's the same hot air just coming back every week with the heat on again next Monday forecast 28 c . cry
Boy do we need some decent cyclones hitting the mainland , but looks like another dud year .

Northwesterly has picked up to 20 km/h which has made the temperature rocket back up in the past 30 minutes, gone from 20.7 to 26.4 degrees, pretty funny as well, because it is currently warmer out here than what Hobarts max was for yesterday! (26.1). wink

I dare say our max temp for today will be in the next hour or so! grin
