Quite disappointing here so far. A bit of moderate rainfall but no wind or hail.

There must be a few dented cars on the Collaroy Plateau. A black core passed over that area a little while ago.

As we all know, hail comes in sizes of balls used in various sports. A cricket ball has a diameter of 7.1 to 7.3 cm, a baseball is 7.3 to 7.5 cm. I don't know what is played with a 9 cm ball.

Yeah man I have been, but our storms never develop enough to tap into the cold uppers. We've only had hail 4 times in 14 years here. Hope you get something later Knotty, you'll love it.

Good luck with it Gringos, hope you get something as good as I got. Wow at that hail pic, and 9cm hail!!!

Surprisingly Steve all the cars seem fine. Most of the stones were 4-5cm, I found a few 8cm stones in the front yard along with the 9cm.

Bit on the small side he he he

But seriously. Put them in a leaugue with the Sydney 99 hailstorm. I remember the roar coming from the south. We thought it was a plane off target. Cricket balls obliterated the skylight. Some smooth. Some knobbly. Some spikey. Was really somethin

Darker by the minute here

Great stuff WR!!!! I was hoping you would be under that black core WR.
It's funny how you've gone from the worst storm season ever to the best in 2 days!!!! Well in lad!!
Yep. Our hail was about the size of what Mersaydi showed in her pic. The surprising thing was that there wasn't much rain until towards the end of the storm. The beginning was almost completely hail and lasted a good 15 minutes before it turned to rain.
I still have some quite thick drifts of hail in the more protected parts of my garden. Bucket loads of it actually.
We certainly didn't have the 90 km/h winds. In fact it was mostly calm.
Also, before the storm/hail hit, there were bolts flying down everywhere with loud thunder, but pretty much as soon as the hail arrived the lightning stopped. I found that a bit weird.

Would've been about 9.3cm before it melted in my hand as it took me some time to come back inside and find a measuring device.

The biggest I've experienced before this was 6cm back on Jan 20th 2005

Get your mind out of the gutter!! poke LOL.

The hail stones here were strange shapes, most round just like normal but some spiky and others were cylindrical or circular and hollow in the middle.

Some epic hail there guy's, cheers for sharing and it looks like there is more to come.

Had a crazy rain rate here with some good size hail, not as big as what happened 10km up the road, there will be damage around the place as we all know.

Thanks heaps Homer, yeah it was epic. Btw, not the best storm season ever, best summer ever but it rates as a pretty decent storm season now though. The best hands down was 2014-15. But it was the best singular storm I've ever seen.

Glad you got something too Homer.

Forgot some info: The winds were about 30-40km/h easterly until the storm hit and then probably 60-70km/h from the south and very gusty. The hail lasted about 10 mins and only started with tiny pieces but then suddenly it bucketed down and for about 5 mins, the only precip was hail. Interestingly unlike Homer, we had heavy rain first for a while but then the hail started, seemingly quite random and very unexpected.

That's pretty impressive LRH. Wouldn't want to be hit by one that size.

My hailstones are much more modest. Most were marble sized, with a few bigger ones mixed in, a few of which I collected and put in the freezer:

The largest measures about 3.5 cm across.

They look like they are made up of some of the smaller stones that fell, which somehow coalesced.

Had the sun out for a while. I can still hear booms. Another cell is passing over Terry Hills on to the Northern Beaches, red this time, not black.

Gee wiz surely not again. Massive flang and another purple core coming from the NW this time.

edit: We have hail again! Don't think it'll be anywhere near as big as the first cell but let's see...

The largest hail I can seem to find has fallen just to the west of here through Rouse Hill and Kellyville accompanied by very strong winds.

Same as the hail here Steve. I was going to post pics but no point when there's two pics with basically identical sized hail to what I got here. PS: I put my hail in the freezer as well.

Wow Mersaydi thanks for sharing.
