Could see a few intersting looking towers building on the Western horizon around 3:00PM. There's nothing on the radar, however.

Sydney's West reached 35-37 today, 28 at OH. Another very sunny, sea breezy day here.

Looks like a wet week coming up after tomorrow. BOM has upped the totals for Sydney and Newcastle to about 25-90mm for the 7 days.

Penrith about 20 - 70 mm
Bathurst 0 - 12

Looks to be pretty much coastal (from the Illawarra North) with some minor spillage over the Divide.

There looks like a small call has developed now SW of Blackheath and Katoomba.

That cell that Stormy noted has nearly fizzled out, but there's another cell over Blackheath now and more showers about the Blue Miuntains. They are drifting slowly Eastwards but I don't think they'll make it off the Blur Mountains.

Clear, warm, humid and windy here.

Unexpected thunder here earlier. Just a couple of rumbles and a few fat drops of rain, but definitely wasn't expecting it. Doesn't seem to have lasted long. smile

Looking at my rainfall history from the manual gauge - I've clocked a whopping 2.1mm so far for February. 46.6mm for January, however 39.5mm of that fell in one day.

I remember this time last year, the heat lovers were complaining like hell that we were under never ending scumtherlies and were having no summer. "Where have our summers gone" was the constant cry. Well, this summer we have had a proper summer. You know, the type of summer many of us elder folk remember as kids. But the heat lovers have generally gone quiet. Why?

Agree and I would have been one of them. I have loved this summer and hence not much whinging from me. It's a bit odd that the heat lovers have gone quiet, I'm pretty much the only heat lover that has been posting all summer. Still, no matter how good the summer has been I can not stand the weather coming up.

They were probably fearing persecution, which is a much loved tradition on the Vic forums toward those that dare enjoy anything resembling summer.

That doesn't seem to happen on this sub-forum. We disagree with one another about our weather tastes but we seem to just accept each other's preferences.

Interesting that the BoM have put into the forecast a chance of a thunderstorm along the coastal fringe later tonight.

Lol, don't mind summer, but it goes on too long.
Plus there is not much nice about 45-46C, or even 47C.
Prefer shoulder seasons (cool nights and mild-warm days), but lately we go straight from summer to winter, and then winter to summer, just the time varies from year to year.
Today looking at 30C, after 35C yesterday in the Lower Hunter, then some more moderate weather on the weekend.

Greg - not surprised you clocked more rain this year - plenty of times storms seem to follow the higher ground to my north.

I've watched many a storm skim by north of me. smile

That onshore airflow on the coast will slightly up the humidity here next week and actually keeps the night temps up a tad. However 13's and 14 fine of course, extra moisture in the air makes those temps seem slightly higher but better than up around or over 20 by heaps smile

I think it's possible to like summer without liking the intense heat. Long days, lovely evenings, lots of fruit on the trees.
Sydney's summer seems to last to the end of june these days, I went to the beach at manly last june and there was just as many people as summer, and the weather was perfect for swimming

That little red cell looks quite active on the 256km radar. Looks to be heading straight for Bathurst.

I've been caught up with customers - you lot didn't need me - you've already spotted it smile

It has developed DRAMATICALLY since I first noticed it. 30 min ago it was a fine little veil of a shower - NOW VERY dark and heavy under it, cannot see through it AT ALL!! It's quite a beauty. Hope it keeps growing thisaway. smile

Slowish moving. If it hits it may rain for a while.

That cell looks gorgeous from behind (mind the innuendo) - don't have a good line of sight to grab pics though.

The firecalls have started coming through now for grass fires started by lightning, but I doubt there'll be much out of it given the amount of rain in that thing and its slow moving nature.

Can clearly see the rain curtain thinning as it comes off the high ground and on to the Bathurst Valley. Still looks good though.

Precip just starting here now.
