Definitely falling apart over the lower ground. However still quite good fun.

Reckon it will reform better once it gets over higher ground to the east.

Nice little drop in temp too smile

Won't be much accumulation here in Kelso.

Alby - yes it sat over the western side of the river a while before it wandered east of the bridge smile

It went from a black curtain of rain initially that had zero vis through it to a rapidly thinning veil as it came over us and very transparent.

Very pleased to be under it though smile

11 degrees in 45 mins is a pretty good effort.
Will probably heat back up though and feel muggy once the sun comes back out.

There's more development on the Central Tablelands, from Shooters Hill to Hill End and further North. Hope it brings some bonus falls to those who win't get much from the upcoming event.

The sun and cicadas have come out here, after an absence of about 4 hours. Around 27 near the coast, 30 out West.

Just about missed me completely, lots of noise but no rain. A bit cooler at least.

We really should have a weather radar out West. Orange might be a good location. Maybe Mt Canabolas if they can fit one up there with all the other stuff. It would nicely fill the gap between the coastal radars, Canberra and Namoi..

Steve - yes radar would be a huge benefit further west of here.

Probably west of Orange, maybe out Parkes way would be good. It would still see the Orange area beautifully from there and then reach even further west.

I'm not that knowledgeable regarding radio electronics, but I wonder how much the current towers on Canobolas would affect the radar?
I've been up there twice in our Kluger and both times, the push button start was deemed ineffective in normal use.
The first time, it was 3 degrees and threatening to snow. The remote would not even unlock the doors. I had to engage the emergency flip out key to open the door. Couldn't start the car either. Googled it, and found that I had to hold the remote button right against the start button on the dash.
I've no doubt it was the towers up there causing this problem.
Not sure whether the towers would be equally effective at interrupting a weather radar signal?

Mt Canobolas would also be too high for a weather radar. It wouldn't pick up a lot of the low topped winter precip that would occur around Orange and surrounds.

I think as Dave said, around Parkes area would be good as it's a bit lower and would also see more west.

Hail possible indeed.

Homey - used to have the same issue on Mt Wellington on a very regular basis. I've had to help push a few cars to a certain point where they would work.

Often needed the actual key to open my own doors - remote wouldn't work. We got used to it for ourselves and used to helping others whenever we went up there.

WR - correct I'm sure re the elevation, pretty sure it's been discussed a lot previously and as you say, a high elevation radar goes over the top of low level precip.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
for DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES

Covers most of the Central Tablelands.

EDIT: Yes, Parkes might be a better place.

Will need to remember that story about those towers interfereing with electronics if I go to Mt Canabolas again. Last time I was up there I was in a car without remote control, automatic windows or air conditioning.

EDIT2: Can't see anything of the storms from here. It's dark to the West but there's too much low cloud obscuring the view.

Report of a decent amount of hail up to 1.5cm diameter at Lithgow with very strong winds and lots of lightning. From a reliable source.

Shoulda got in there quicker Davo. poke Only joking- marble size is probably a better description than a numerical measurement.

A rather inaccurate warning area, again. The western CT's were included when it was quite clear from the get go that the development was well east of Orange.
