Yeah Steve, as far as I'm concerned this low can quickly boot off towards NZ now.
Bring on some warmth.

Yeah Knot finally finished moving house, internet reconnected, just trying to get my weather station sorted out.

Drizzly/showery train right on the coastal fringe, just enough to be a nuisance.
Not at all surprised about the record heat being followed by a never ending wet spell, it seems to do this without fail. Most models under cooked the totals, although GFS did have a 100-250mm bullseye right over the metro and illawarra in a few of it's 'unreliable' runs, bit ironic. I suspect March will end up a very wet one in places that aren't already.

This weather isn't too far out of the ordinary for March though.. as much as it is annoying.

I was down at the Thirlmere Steam Festival today, and we had moderate rain from about 1pm to 2:30pm, which forced us and many others to head for the enclosed museum.

I drove past there just the other day for the first time! Had to head up to Bowral on Wednesday and decided to take the scenic route home through Hill Top - Buxton - Thirlmere - Picton, then back along Picton Rd to Wollongong and home.

Apparently only 1mm of rain since 9am at Maitland Airport today.
Dunno if this is right or wrong, but there were definitely some brief downpours here, and everything outside is still wet - the ground or road has not dried out all day.
Will check the rainfall at Belmore Bridge, would seem more applicable for here.
Temp only 23C today too, well short of 28C forecast.
Not complaining about this though, the aircon has had one hell of a workout this summer. (and so has the power bill)

Illawarra forecast for Monday:

"Mostly sunny. High (70%) chance of showers along the coastal fringe, most likely in the evening. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. Winds southerly 25 to 40 km/h. Overnight temperatures falling to between 12 and 17 with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 20s"

Wow mostly sunny, that will be awesome if it happens. It should if winds stay SWly all day

It's partly cloudy here but it was drizzling at Jamberoo and Kiama about an hour ago when i was down that way. Was particularly windy in Albion Park, the trees were thrashing around on the south side in particular. Quite gusty here as well but nothing like the southern end of Albion Park.

It looked very nice on the radar around the time of your post Quagmelson and it pissed down around that area such as gilleston heights, cliftleigh, kurri, but its didnt get here. It really would have made a difference if we got 50-60mm in quick time as everything was primed ready to go. We only had 6mm out of that convergence area. places north and east would have fared much better.

I did get my wish though and the event total clicked up to 106mm. This was a very nice recharge and came in little bits over a week, which pretty much all soaked in. My main dam only came up by 4 inches and that was with an extended mitre drain I cut in last week. Just gives an indication of how dry things were.

another event of 100mm in 2 days now would be perfect. wouldnt fill the main dams but would chew up a large bit of the deficit.

I sense a cold winter coming up, maybe not particularly wet, but certainly windy I would think. ECL or two could smash the coast of course and Im sorta hoping to collect one with big rainfall to make sure we are ready for whatever next summer has in store.

Interesting Rsav - thanks for posting. Great stormy sunset photos.

------

After early cloud, today was warm, partly cloudy and fairly windy here.

Looks like this event is over unless the low moves closer to the coast than expected. Otherwise, it looks like wandering around in the Tasman away from the coast until moving away towards NZ on Friday.

------

NRL has started, it's now dark at 6:00AM, it's cooled noticably in the last couple of weeks (but only back towards average), it must be Autumn.

Actually Steve, it was very dark getting towards 7 am last week with some of that heavy cloud cover and rain.
Still 3 more weeks of daylight saving, so it will very dark on mornings like last week by then.
It's a beautiful evening. 19.4 degrees and still a fairly gusty breeze blowing here. Considering it is a south westerly and quite dry, it actually feels a little bit cool outside.
The skies are clear, and the moon is bright.
A very early autumnal night for Sydney.
Just beautiful, after that oppressive heat just 4 weeks ago.
I'm with Derek.
I'm glad my power bills are also getting some respite.

Wow that is an excellent report, going to be looking on that page now. I really enjoy report storm reports.

Thank goodness you made it back to Lithgow. smile

Quite windy here too Steve, in fact extremely windy on the coast. It was a tale of two halves in Wollongong on the beaches about noon today. North Beach had a moderate offshore breeze and some really nice and big waves. Meanwhile south beach had very strong winds and surf was so rough and messy but huge.

PS: First day in 10 days where there has been no precip. Was partly cloudy overall; mostly cloudy at times and mostly sunny at other times. It would've been much nicer if winds were just tad more westerly.

Nights are still very summer-like in comparison to a normal one so they have all been nice lately. The majority of the nights here in the summer are cool to mild but they weren't this year.

OH just had its first rain free day (9;00 - 9:00) since February 24. A few event totals around Sydney:

OH..........170 mm
Mona Vale...207
Richmond.....84

It's now cloudy with a few sunny breaks. There are showers about which might deliver small totals, as there will be for the rest of the week near the coast, but the main event is finished.

Models suggest there may be an inland rain event moving into NSW from the Nw in about a week's time, but that's a way off.

Out here, a massive 5mm or thereabouts (eg Greg 7mm) for around Bathurst. Bit different to the coast.

Other areas around though (north & west of here) did much better as highlighted by Davidm & O/roughy. smile

Access 10 day liking the thoughts of a widespread inland rain event next week. GFS not keen - will see what comes of that if anything smile

We didn't get much rain in Dapto, just very brief light showers. Albion Park got 0.4mm and we probably weren't far off that.

Living beside the coast has its advantages LOL

Watching the sat pic at the moment. That low is spinning up some showers. Wind is due south now. So i'd expect some to impact here soon.

Light to moderate short sharp showers on the central coast. That would make it the 12th straight day of rain here.
