Well I slept through all the action last night. Chatswood finished with 24mm (nothing since about dawn) with many places in Sydney's North and the Illawarra getting over 50.

It's mild with not much wind and about 7/8 cloud here. Cloud does tend to hang about over the North Shore (as it does over a supervillian's lair) when the circultion is in the SE quarter.

According to the forecast, everything's on again tonight. Hope the people who want rain get some with that lot.

It's been pretty sunny out here Steve for the past 2 or so hours but it's now clouding over again somewhat. Still plenty of blue sky around. Maybe 4/8th's cloud cover.
Looking forward to the increase in showers tonight with possible heavy falls, although there's not much sign of anything yet.
There's certainly no sign of storms on the Bathurst wx cam.
Not much coming up from the south east either.

It's cleared up here now - a sunny afternoon with drifting low cloud, about 24-25 with a bit of a breeze from the SSE.

I note that OH 'lost' its sub 20 max for yesterday in the 9:00 reset, so it is now 20.8, still the coldest Feb day in 5 years. Sub 20 maxima are very unusual in Sydney in Feb. The last one at OH was in 2009, the one before that was back in 1973.

It's usually a more consistently warm month than January isn't it (even Jan had a sub 20 last year during a 'mini ice age').

I'm surprised at how benign the sky looks at the moment. Where is this rain supposed to materialise?

Dunno Jimi.
There's a bit off cloud coming in from the south east but not much showing up on the radar. Just the odd few showers.
There's certainly nothing coming from the west re thunderstorms.
I suppose we'll know more when the 4.20 pm forecast comes out.

The BoM are adamant it's going to happen as at 4.20 pm.
I'll go with them because surely they wouldn't be wrong just hours out?

Up to 130 mm's forecast during the next week, but it could be as low as 50 or even lower.
Certainly going to be an interesting week.
Thursday/Friday starting to sound juicy now.

It's almost completely sunny here, just a bit of low cloud towards the escarpment and thin high cloud to the north. A most beautiful afternoon with a cold breeze.

Getting to work tomorrow morning will be a challenge by the looks, some isolated flooding around no doubt. Thinking it won't be as intense as last night, but then again the radar did fill up pretty quickly after about midnight and it just kept bucketing, 79mm at Frenchs forest (that area typically gets hammered in these onshore set ups)

Was a very pleasant day here, 25C and mostly sunny with a pleasant easterly breeze. I did my first batch of cider for the season, 80L at 7.5 be. Followed by lunch in the garden and a swim in the pool - a very nice day.

And nothing will come from the west. The steering winds are odd here today/tonight. Any storms tonight will be coming in from the SE off the water. No wonder the temps are so cool, with S/SE winds throughout the whole atmosphere. Our SElies thus far have all been shallow with westerly winds above a certain level.

Yes I know that. But yesterdays storms formed over the CT's and that was possibly just one option from where they might develop, although I always knew the more probable likelihood was that they would form along the coast. As they are expected to tonight.

Sorry Homer, did not mean to insult your intelligence. Your wording of 'nothing coming from the west' implied that they would form in the west and head towards the coast. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Just casted an eye over the radar. Looks like the maritime stuff is starting to get organised just offshore.

Looks like some action sweeping in.

Will probably fade away before it reaches the coast.

Looks to me like the first of these rainbands is about to make landfall. Still waiting to see how heavy they'll be.
