My theory of the radar being about 3km's out of whack with the overlay is proving about right. The 2:54 radar shows rain falling on the Cairns side of the Barron. I have not had a drop and I am 200m away from the river.

Edit: it has just started spitting at 3:06 the 3:00 radar has me nearly in the a yellow blob. I think it might be about 5km's out.

On the radar, it looks as if Utchee Creek is weaving inbetween the wet spots...but we aren't. Honest. 60mm in the last hour, yoohoo. And still coming down. The waterfall over in the neighbours sounds like the Niagara.....and thats amazing, cos the rain is loud on the tin roof.
Edit No 3. - Just read above post of Simmo's about radar being out of whack - well it sure is here!

Nice to see you getting a bit BG wink

Looks like the CS is starting to fire up. EC has a TC crossing the coast between Cairns & Townsville in it's latest run. Long way out and I am sure it will all change, but at least the CS is becoming alive!

Fingers crossed for some decent rain for all of us.

Waterfalls and rivulets running on the pyramid, yet probs 4mm here. Verry patchy stuff. Thunder around Aloomba earlier.

Dark skies most of the day. Black around us. Maybe a roll of thunder in the distance earlier in the afternoon. I thought it tried to sprinkle, but nothing, and still nothing.
Look at the radar, and it's all around us. At least the radar is right with that. Chillagoe is getting nothing.

Was definitely a good day to tell how out of whack the radar is with how slow things were moving. It really made it stand out.

Ended up with 10.8mm.
Things looking OK for the rest of the week. Lets hope the potential upcoming late season activity in the CS can bring some decent falls. Ita was in April 2014 and I recorded 315mm in just over 24 hours in Redlynch. Time will tell.

The Saddle Mtn radar hasn't been right since the day it was installed Simmo. They've had a few shots at fixing it, but nothing changes. I'm sure the techs just turn it off for a day, bbq a few steaks & snags for lunch, have a snooze, turn it back on and drive back down the range.

I use WZ's radar which is the same (obviously) but a jazzier paint job,- the thing being is that their light green shading isn't light rain, it's no rain, nothing, not even virga!
Always seems way over sensitive.
