Again HF the coastal areas look to have done better with your total overnight compared to mine only a couple of km further inland of only 10mm.

The little low pressure system further north may be controlling the flow more than expected. Am trying to be patient but gee it doesn't look good for anyone ut the very exposed coastal areas.

Storms predicted for this afternoon but the trough will need to push onshore to see that happen. Not writing it off yet but really pathetic so far and even more so for those in the TSV area...again.

Thunder and lightning on and off all night with 63mm. Which segued into persistent drizzle now rain this morning. After catching up an hours sleep just now I checked the radar and yikes, am only on the bottom edge of it with hours more coming and looks like Cairns is in line too. Lots of reading coming up...

Glad I made it to Cairns yesterday, lovely day weathwerwise.

It's primed to go moisture wise. Just needs a bit more of a nudge around the cairns area. Will we get it though.

It is slowly heading south. A lot of juice in it so everything is crossed for this afternoon.

103mm and 1 frog in the gauge this morning.
There has been plenty of rumbles on and off for most of the night, and still some rumblings now.
2096mm YTD and only 15 days recorded so far without rainfall.

Just 81 mm and 1 moth in the gauge....its dissipating quickly now though...

That's a big whack of moisture just to the north of Cairns...I guess like everyone I wonder if it will sit offshore or push onto the coast...?

Slowly does it...coming in from the north. Just hoping it pushes west where we really need it - Tinaroo catchment.

Staying east...grrr. Fairy pee for the morning but nothing more here in CBD.

Need some serious convergence over the region to make any difference but ridging is weakening out so unlikely. At least the ocean is getting it...arrrrgggggghhhhhh!

Very frustrating watching all that rain pass us out to sea!! Looks like it is moving in a southerly direction right passed us!

Not even that system could give TSV anything of note. Complete let down of a trough that was pushing nicely west but got the white line fever closer to coast.

So true, Jim, I felt it was so assured for Cairns and Townsville - caught me well enough, with 45mm. And sure don't need it, I doubt Tully(Scott) needs it either.

11.4mm, maybe frustrating but it was what was forecast. showers look to be moving a bit more today, maybe they will push a bit further onshore?

*Saw a video from Silver Plains this morning, completely surrounded by water.
