Much talk of ants building new homes everywhere that is not appreciated - is it meaning rain. I dont have an issue with them at my place.

There was a lot of flooding in other countries in areas that our Monsoon moisture comes from the past few months, normally I expect to see some of that carry over here, time will tell

Rain activity is slowly building on radar out near Willis Island from the approaching trough system. Should start to see coastal showers, later on, tonight. grin

According to the rain prediction map, we weren't supposed to get any rain until tomorrow. But we just had a couple of rogue cells pass over us and drop 7mm. Don't need to water the plants. grin

It will be interesting to see just how we go with this event. It may just be the last one we get this wet so fingers crossed.

Think positive Brett. March is historically our 2nd wettest month, not January.
Might not be this year. Only time will tell, not 'crystal ball' models.

I am mate. Hopefully there will be at least one more decent hit out before the end. A whirly gig would be nice to get enough of that rain inland to fill some dams like Tinaroo ot Townsvilles water supply would be nice. TBH while it hasn't been exceptional for Cairns this year it has certainly been good enough and we can't complain but the lack of cyclone activity( for the entire southern hemisphere) is bordering in minboggling.

Been away since Monday so 30 mm since then ( believe it or not it did actually rain in Townsville as I was trying to eat my dinner at the Seaview beer garden)

Woke to heavy rain at Manoora at 4am.
Thank goodness Rusty's is under cover.
Looks like it's set on for quite a while.

Looks like nothing at home though. frown

Looks like the trough has stalled off the coast...will it...wont it? Not much rain to speak of yet - should push ashore during the day with some good totals.

I was just wondering about that myself, CunNimJim. The trough is just sitting there, washing out!!

38mm overnight
