Just out of curiosity, did you end up getting any storms nearby?
I think you said awhile back that you were in Murwillumbah but I can't remember for sure.

Reason I ask is because the northern tip of a line went past Murwillinbah a short time ago - radar below:

Yes, we did end up getting something as it propogated northwards, just cought the northern edge. Probably recieved 10-15mm in as many minutes, will check the gauge in the morning. And yea I'm just to the SW of Murwillumbah. Can't say for sure, but heard some tinks on the roof, so there may have been a small hailstone or two too. Couldn't be happier after a week of close but no cigar. smile

What a stunning afternoon this turned out to be. Warm, breezy and felt like summer. I don't mind missing out on storms if we get days like that.

More examples of the variability in local storm impact this afternoon. The first storm front missed Grafton to the south but hit down river areas dumping 22mm in Yamba in half an hour around 5.30 pm EDT.
The second front affected areas south of Grafton- Grafton Airport 28mm in about half an hour including 9mm in 5 minutes between 6.30 and 6.35 pm. In Grafton proper we received no more than 3mm over the same period.

tsunami: Seabreeze posted earlier in this thread for such discussion to be moved to the day to day weather thread. For reference, this is what I posted there:

Incredibly muggy right now. The 35 degrees we got here today was not welcome!

Big day down here, a good 50mm across much of our region. Storms formed quickly early this afternoon and once they got going the combination of uppers, topography and a heap of moisture kept them forming and repeatedly moving across the Bellinger and Kalang valleys through the afternoon, just clearing out to sea now. EC Ensemble just out appears to have nailed it pretty well so congrats to that model.
Looking much drier and cool this week with that Tasman low sitting out there stopping anything other than swells hitting the coast...looking more interesting again next weekend, though that is for another thread smile

Northern NSW delivered as forecast, looks like SE QLD was a bit too dry? I stated earlier in the day the westerlies were getting closer to the ranges this morning. This was this evening from Cabarita Beach in Northern NSW _3050157 by Glen Anderson, on Flickr

Stunning photo Gleno. Unfortunately zilch for McDowall today and only a few drops for the week. Looking forward to a change in fortunes but forecast looks deflating
