Has been a huge day for us down here, over 400mm in Dorrigo since 9am yesterday, major flooding predicted. Am writing this cut off in one of the local valleys with rivers still rising. Have been posting a heap of updates and photos through the day on this page: https://www.facebook.com/bellingenweather
Still raining now but looks like the flow is turning from east to north east which should dry it up quite a bit for us...we need that!

That storm that's about to hit Bribie Island, be interesting to see how far south that cell will travel. Things ramping up on the border ranges as well

Looks like a convergence line forming from the border, with another line between bribie island to double island area. Could be an interesting night

That is the same storm. Unplug your electrical appliances trust me. Seems to be growing/backbuilding. Better than crap storms that come from South West.

Brag away Snapper! Not everyone may be getting the rain but it's good to hear from those that are.

Question for Ken: with respect to the BOM forecast rainfall for more than a couple of days in advance is there any adjustment to help buffer against outliers? If not one would have to assume that in complex and dynamic setups such as this the predicted rainfall totals would usually reduce as the event approaches. (Hope this all made sense)

Sort of reminds me of March 9 2001. When that low crossed NE NSW on the day before and then these slow moving thunderstorms developed and continued to backbuild causing widespread falls of 100-300mm from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast and including Brisbane. I think the forecast for that day was a chance of a shower!

I am just below the black dot indicating Caloundra on 128 Bris Radar. This is intense and latest frame has it backbuilding to maroochydore. Downright scary thunder. Roof leaking for first time ever due to odd direction of rain from due north.

Kinda looks like these line of storms are linking up to the low in NSW. Like a feeder band of some sort.

I think BoM may need to update as storm tracker has the cell almost above Strathpine. It is a coastal hugger. Nice light show.
