It's worth having a gander at the doppler loop for the last few hours. Fast moving OFB surging north! (just triggered those cells near Kapunda).

Also some gravity waves (albeit very minor ones) earlier off the to west of Adelaide were formed by the Adelaide metro cells.

The lightning map that others on here have recommended does not appear to be working about Adelaide anymore. The station at Salisbury is operational and is currently tracking the lighting in Central Victoria. For some reason though the site is failing to plot lightning close to Adelaide. Before I email them I wanted to see if others are having the same problem.

upper trough AND associated upper coldpool, weakening, makes
for good vertical instability best area set to go through
southern EP, southern YP, KI, F. peninsular and southern burbs.
starting to work its magic already sw of tip of EP.
what's so special about that lightning map? i just use the WZ
one, it's accurate, reliable and hasn't faltered to the best
of my knowledge. still it's a bit like a choice of car i suppose.

Just for what it's worth....
Today at work (dry creek) , lets just say,, the creek should now be wet....!!!
nice development with tight tall billowing towers is a great sign for something to happen,, and happen it did.
Thunder, lightning,,,,, and bucketing heavy persistent rain.
I don't have a gauge at work,, should get one, but for now, a guess,... 12 -18 mm...lets just say,,, all roller doors down and doors shut. smile
Got home to NOTHING,,, dry and desolate lookin.
So i've been watching the skies and weatherzone maps / radars whathave you,,, and yes,, now watch for further development over the next hours,,, some should get a surprise .... and some will be dissapointed....
MY TURN PLEASE smile

Dropped into the Torrens River @ 16:20ish, end of Lambert Rd - the flow was very noticeably up from the week before.

I don't think CC stuff is shown only CG .. if it isn't that then it is broken somehow...

Well to reply to my own post

http://www.lightningmaps.org/about/faq

Quote:
Blitzortung.org currently don't distinguish between cloud-to-ground (CG) and intra-cloud or cloud-to-cloud events.

Hmm, so that band off the tip of Eyre Penn is lighting up lightningmaps.org just fine - at a second guess maybe people don't leave their gear up running 24/7 ..

southeast going bananas already.
and talking about bananas, there's a whole plantation going
off on our doorstep.
might have to slip down to the beach and have a peek-a-boo
methinks.
steering is se but building east as the coldpool moves, seems
to be mainly on the top edge, will it have enough grunt to get here?
according to gfs it's a big 10-4, FP touching -6LIs should get
smashed between sunrise and midday. looks like the southern
burbs on the top edge of things. coldpool should contract se
as the day progresses.
southern ranges up for a go again.
pretty much anywhere around a line from adelaide to naracoorte.
havn't seen a big juicy patch of purple LIs over the se like
that for years......b/stds.
sorry RS but i think your out of the loop. looks pretty much
naracoorte/kingston up.
