Ex Debbie left us not just floods but big water contamination due to power outage at sewage plants along the Sunshine Coast?

Sorry Big T, a minor detail! it's the upper Lockyer creek Catchment.
1130pm 6m flash flood ... it's a wonder no one died or it's not mentioned in the news! I guess there's a lot on.
Anyone heard anything about it?
Laidley creek got smashed too...

There was a video posted to the FB "Who got the rain" page of the beginning of the flow further upstream past upper Tenthill. Was great seeing the water come rushing through the weed and overgrowth, where it hasn't flowed for some time.

The Laidley creek caught people by surprise. As the area in the headwaters has had half decent rain in the recent weeks (and most notibly a week or so before Debbie), it ran off very well. There was a flow from earlier on Thursday, and then when the catchment got drenched again after lunch, it really got things moving. Peaked at above 9.2m at Mulgowie, which is similar height to 2011 and 2013. Not as much saturation and inflow from downstream areas meant the flood didn't reach the heights in Laidley itself, that it did in those previous floods.

Thankfully, as the council had earlier revoked an evac warning for the low lying areas. It was touch and go, and a mistake in my opinion, as they revoked it well before they knew the height of the flow at Mulgowie.

I went for a drive upstream today with the family to check out one of my favourite swimming holes from when I was a kid (up past Townson). It was running crystal clear and beautifully. I was here a few weeks back, and bone dry and absolutely caked with weed and overgrowth.

Just what the doctor ordered.

There were plenty of people about during my trip! The last few times I've been up that way, I've probably passed 1 or 2 vehicles between the Mulga and the end of the road, today would have been a dozen or more. Quite a few having a look and going for a swim, as it's the first chance they've had in a long time up there.

And yes, lots of damage up the creek unfortunately. The silver lining is plenty of moisture and a kickstart to the next season.

Lovely area around Tenthill, wedged between 2 ranges, great cricket grounds & little athletics venue. When it rains there, plenty runoff. Thats a nice swim hole redbucket, have to take a drive & havalook.

Yep, plenty of games of cricket all through the southern Lockyer in my junior days.

A great road from Tenthill through Rockside and over to Mt Berryman and Blenheim, if you don't mind a bit of dirt. Great day out.

Pretty sad update, there are now 4 confirmed deaths with crews still searching for known 5th person missing. Authorities have stated that the death toll could still rise after flood water recede and they are able to do a complete search of the affected areas.
