Spent last week camped up around Mt Gipps , Running Creek and Rathdowney /Mt Lindesay area. Moved camp Wed night up over the other side of the range to Daggs Falls just below Queen Mary Falls near Killarney . Most of the rain fell just on the eastern side of the mountains but enough fell to get the falls pumping along Spring Creek and for the Condamine to break in Killarney for minor flooding.

Cheer Joe

Not sure if correct thread(have searched for info on wz) but just looking at access G on the 4/5th of April. Can anyone comment on the apparent low pressure system in the Coral sea? Looks to stay offshore???

Very Sad Colin, hopefully the toll doesn't rise anymore, I don't know what it is, but everytime we all cry for rain, then it eventually arrives, in most cases, it comes at a cost.

A few pics from yesterday, down around the Cabarita area in Northern NSW. This area fared a lot better compared to Lismore and Murwillumbah, however still lots of water about. The Top photo is Cudgen lake, the palm trees in the far background is the end of the carpark, normally you can drive right up to that spot.

Great catalogue of photos Gleno.

Bar is a healthy 1020 with a coolish SW - first day with an autumnal feel.

Be interesting to see what unfolds for the Coral Sea over the next week or so.

Prognostications anyone?

Still not much showing up within the next several days for the Coral Sea.

A rumour started on social media a few days ago about another Coral Sea TC which spread like chinese whispers but it was blown out of all proportion (the system that was being initially mooted was way out near Vanuatu/New Caledonia and wasn't going to come anywhere near the mainland).

But there is some potential over waters off northwest WA and/or the NT from around a week's time from now.

Hi Ken. Thanks for that. ACCESSG was showing something a week out in the CS but that is gone in the latest run. How does the NW WA/NT modelling fit with Snowy Hibbo's MJO explanation for TC Debbie. I would have thought the MJO would have moved on in a weeks time.

My internet has been down for some time, so I'm outside, dodging showers and midgies, on mobile internet atm. Large parts of M'bah not a nice sight once the water went down, but the community is strong. Will take time to bounce back.

Pretty epic Trav. Did you loose the rear window? Amazing if you have any paint left on your 4X4. Thanks for putting that together.
When it hit Brisbane as EX TC we went through 115 -120KM/H and that was bad enough for down here but at 240KM/H this house would be debris and take out other houses due to the way we are positioned on the hill. Our Building Code would not take that sort of sustained winds.

Went into town for the first time since the floods today. The destruction was everywhere. A bridge was missing, making that the 3rd bridge I know of that got swept away. Most fences have been turned into walls made of twigs and dead grass, and the road now has frequent and large pot holes. A 100 year old fruit shop was also washed away, along with the ground it was standing on. Not sure if this is true, but I've heard the council are also in a pickle because their equipment that was stored in south murwillumbah got washed away.

Nocturnal, I hope your house and property is okay. Glad you're safe.

Oh, and for some reason, Murwillumbah's rain obs aren't being recorded, despite it being shown on the latest rainfall and river conditions page.

Thanks Rainiac. House okay, high and dry, but yard in want of a tidy up. A bit of debris from the stormwater creek, which went at an all-time high, but nothing too big or important. Hope things are okay in your neck of the woods!

Yeah, heard that the Tweed Shire Council depot in South Murwillumbah lost approx. $20m worth of equipment and also about 45 work vehicles (trucks and utes) were flooded, and are now useless. I also understand that the airplanes at the airfield have been written off. Most of M'bah's fuel stations are in South M'bah, and fuel contamination was/is a concern... not sure if any are operational yet.

There'd be hundreds of millions of dollars in local damages from this event, easily (that's not counting other council areas). Saddest thing, though, is the multiple loss of lives. At least one of the deceased was known fairly well to one of my rellies. : (

Still on mobile internet, no eta for the restoration of the NBN to my suburb. (So I check this site about once or twice a week on my mobile data. And try not to get bitten by too many midgies and mosquitoes!)
